New Retribution gameplay

Retribution became unplayable on 3/24/23. The percentage and volume of PVP nerfs have gutted survivability. I dont know of a time in WOW history that Retribution had a worse comparative playability. The design of the spec is borderline pefect, missing only pvp mobility, but tuning has given the spec a new purpose, help the enemy team, and destroy your own, just by choosing to play Retribution. I dont know if I should play a mathematically better spec or just unsubscribe from the game.

I think a slight defensive buff would be nice, but Mes, from Team Liquid, is doing average DPS now. His defensives are a little weak, but most healers know who he is, so they heal him constantly. If it weren’t for that, he would have died several times. His DPS is on par with the top-tier players.

None of this is true, like not even a little bit. Ret was brought down from overpowered to S or A tier as a spec. Our damage is still high and our survivability is still good (not immortal, but can live go’s well).

If you don’t trust me that’s fine but mes and vanguards are both playing ret and slamming, and also surviving quite well.

Rets have gone from S++ to S tier and I wouldn’t be surprised if there is another tuning pass.

Mes is a known player. When he was doing 10 vs. 10 RGB, the healers focused on him and let some die. He almost died around 3-4 times up at LM. There was a simi weak group that moved blacksmith. He was able to ward off the healers and take down a few dps. Then he went after the healers and defended blacksmith. Mes then traveled back up to lumbermill because they were attacking it again. The two healers returned to help him. He almost died another 4 times, but survived because of the healers. A druid attacked stables and he had to help a rogue. The druid almost killed him a few times, but he was able to survive it. He grabbed the extra DPS buff prior to fighting the druid. If it wasn’t for that, the druid would have taken down both the rogue and Mes.

Did you even listen to his stream? He was saying rets still felt OP

I was watching his stream. I watched Mes’ stream for about 1 1/2 hours. One of the mods said they were a tad bit OP, but as time went on, the Mod redacted their words. A druid easily out-DPS’ed Mes in a 3 vs. 3. Mes’ DPS was moderate because he had to keep the Hunter alive.

He logged off around 1 hour ago, and we were sent to Payo’s stream. He said that he couldn’t get sleep.

I watched mes all of last night after the nerfs while waiting for solo shuffle queues, his exact thoughts on rets are “rets are still very good, they may possibly need even more nerfs but so far they are very good still”.

I didn’t watch him after 4 am est though I went to bed so I’m not sure if his opinion evolved after that, but the entire 8 hours he was on when I watched him his opinion was very high regarding ret in arena still

Ret in rbgs will die if they are focused like that, every class will honestly. Rbgs do not really indicate arena strength, but I haven’t done any rbgs since the nerfs so I don’t want to say anything yet because I don’t know how ret feels there. I do know it feels strong in arena still just from playing it.

Fwiw, I also watched vanguards and his opinion of ret is also still good.

I watched him from around 10:15 AM to 1 PM EST (2 hours and 15 minutes). My username is EvoCyberNation. So you can see me in chat. I watched him within that timeframe, and you can see his damage was high and low. If he had a healer, he did a slight bit more damage than the majority. If he was getting attacked and didn’t have a healer at all times, he did below the pack. In his 3 vs. 3s, it was either a tad bit high, lower than, but mostly in the middle.

I want to sleep, but I can’t. Just drank some coffee, and that was my fault. I should be sleeping, but I can’t because the house I live in is too active. Trying to sleep is almost impossible. I can put on a headset that has noise cancellation, but I tend to wake up with drool going down my beard. I can’t move my head because of the headset, which makes it hard for me to counter the saliva produced by the body while sleeping. lol

Don’t forget he’s also testing builds or at least was when I was watching. Will check some more out later when he’s on. I think at least in arena ret is in a great spot. Not overpowered but strong, we’ll see how it develops over the weekend here!

Mes said he’ll be back later on tonight. He was a little hesitant with his words. :worried: I hope the man can get some sleep. :+1:
