New Ret PvP Talents

Making a new thread to generate any and all ideas around new Ret PvP talents.

One of the top things holding Ret back in PvP is the lack of meaningful, impactful, engaging or fun PvP talents. Our spec also currently has very few overall options to pick from.

Let’s get the juices flowing for Blizzard! Please drop any and all ideas you have!

Here are my best ideas so far…

  1. Wings of Liberty - While under the effects of Avenging Wrath/Crusade you can no longer be knocked back or displaced
  2. Might of Justice - Hammer of Justice is now undispellable but only lasts for 4 seconds
  3. Holy Crusader - Expurgation now absorbs a portion of healing received to burn the target for additional damage
  4. The Spoken Word - Word of Glory heals for X% more but now has a 20 second cooldown
  5. Emancipate - Cleanse now also removes movement impairing effects
  6. Burden of Guilt - While under the effects of either Final Reckoning or Execution Sentence, your target’s movement speed is reduced by 60%

Wall of Light - 45 sec cooldown 3 sec channel
The paladin channels the light, creating a wall of light that blocks all projectiles from passing through. The wall last 5 seconds, 10 total projectile attacks, or 12 million damage/healing worth of absorption. This includes healing spells. Each projectile/healing spell that targets a character across the wall depletes one charge of the wall’s blocking ability in addition to the damage/healing it would cause. The wall spans a total of 30 yrds, but can be drawn in whatever direction/shape as long as the path does not exceed 30 yrds. Projectiles that target and are cast on enemies not currently blocked by the wall will hit their target even if the target moves back across the wall while the projectile is in flight. The wall does not block movement or abilities such as charge from connecting.

The ability is channeled, castable while walking, and can be interrupted.
When initiated, the cursor starts to draw a golden line on the ground where it points, which erupts into the wall once the channel is finished. The channel can be finished early to create a wall less then 30 yrds. If interupted, the wall does not go off at all.

  1. Sledgehammer of light: hammer of light reduces target healing done and recieved by x% for y seconds.
  2. First light: applying a dawnlight to allies or yourself removes/immunes healing reductions on the target for x seconds only once per application.
  3. The templar marches on: templar strikes causes you to charge a short distance, your target is snared for x seconds by 90% decaying rapidly.
  4. Not vengeance, justice: shield of vengeance can be applied to an allied target, and now after it depletes it explodes healing the target by x% of their max hp
  5. Ultimate sacrifice: blessing of sacrifice transfers 100% of the damage recieved by the target. Damage transfered is 50% more harmful on yourself.

Wtaf?

Is that meant to be kind of a workaround bubble usage?
Isn’t 100% already enough?

Also what’s the purpose?
Sacrifice is meant to be a way to share health pool, what are you sharing if you take it all?

I’m puzzled

Btw, I love gambit mechanics as much as the next guy but you really need to explain this one to me. :upside_down_face:
Because it sounds like a free 50% modifier on your opponent and an invitation to just kill someone else faster.

Btw what do you guys make of the German survey that came out some time ago and talked about new classes/hero spec ideas?

Specifically the Celestial Lancer

Celestials Lancer: Warrior, that use spears and titan magic, that are empowered by the gods for quick jumps and strikes.

It sounds like it could fit a paladin Hero Spec.

Holy Paladins actually have a very similar PvP talent right now. It transfers 100% of the damage received and applies the damage to yourself in the form of a DOT.

It’s hard to explain but that thing is sometimes very valuable in Arena. You can put it on your teammate and LoS around a pillar and heal yourself so they are fine for awhile. Or use it during a heavy CC chain to avoid needing to use your trinket. Many more niche scenarios.

And that would immediately be my next reroll lol. I wish we had something closer to a sword and board dps spec. The Titan twist is also really interesting. Perhaps we could get lucky in The Last Titan?

Ultimate sacrifice was removed at the end of SL iirc. Yes it was basically a damage immunity on the target. Ultimate sacrifice also did not stop transfering the damage to you (even if it dropped you below 20%), if not careful said damage could kill you if you sacced a target taking heavy heavy damage.
