I am a Guild Leader we have 35 Raiders Currently. Each week we have everyone raid. Why are you messing with Raid Sizes again,
This will destroy our Guild. Keep it the same as last phase.

the raids are designed to be completed with 20. literally just recruit or pug 5 people. like i get the removal of flex is out of nowhere but you have 35 people its hardly going to destroy your guild.
I know this is difficult for some lonely people to understand, but this is meant to be a social game and when people build a social group it’s not fun for someone else to constantly be changing the rules on how many people are allowed in their group.
Having to recruit/keep 2 raid teams going is 100% enough to destroy a guild.
Happened to mine in p4 before they allowed MC flex.
well anyway heres your response from aggi daddy
The data indicated that the vast majority of guilds (99%+) raid with less than 25 and from our own experience, playing with more than that in these raids tuned for 20 felt kind of silly. Combine that with the fact that the more people you have the more loot competition it can feel bad with too many mouths to feed.
Ultimately we are trying things and the 20 player raids allowing 40 was another experiment. We might pivot again later if we feel we need to.
The data indicated
How has developing based on data and heuristics instead of trying to make the game fun been going?
I like Aggrend but that was a pretty out of touch statement. He does not fully understand the root issue.
Most guilds are social in nature and just want to bring everyone on their sign up sheet and have a good time. It may be 21 this week, 26 next week and 30 the week after.
Also, flexability in # of raid slots gives everyone what they want, even as what they want changes from week to week. Week 1 raid mentality and goals are different than Week 13 when it is on full farm mode.
I am a raid leader of two completely separate guilds. Each team has about 25-28 raiders
Both strong sub 1hr bwl clearing guilds.
I am very disappointed in this change. We should be allowed to take up to 40 players into AQ40
Furthermore, I am even more disappointed that a AQ2 is now capped off at 15.
We have been accustomed to taking 20 players to ZG and world bosses after our bwl raids. Now I’m forced to actively bench players once again. It’s my least favorite part of this game for me.
But that’s the thing, most raiders in my guild would rather come to raid and have to compete more for the same amount of loot rather than get benched. That decision to weigh number of raiders to loot should be made by the raid leader/guild not Blizzard.
It’s really stupid they changed it. If people want to bring 40 people and get half the gear, so be it. I think AT LEAST it should be capped at 30. I think that would solve a lot of the problems I’m seeing talked about recently.
I also feel like 30 is a more reasonable cap for aq40. But I still feel like aq20 needs to be capped at 20 and not 15
imo challenge + extra lewts makes sense to be capped at 10/20, but casuals who just want to let the raid raid shouldn’t be punished for that. the challenge modes are annoying anyway.
I genuinely don’t see how reducing the cap to 25 benefits anyone.
Competitive players already self-impose 20-man raid size limits in order to parse in the 20-man category on WCL, so this has no effect on them.
All this does is hurt casual guilds with players that have families, other obligations, and aren’t expected to have 100% attendance. Especially after the precedent was already set with flex-40 and guilds have recruited rosters over 25. Just let us have fun.
Like, no tin-foil hat or nothin, but this seriously feels like a psychological experiment to see how many people unsub vs backstab the new raid members they’ve grown close to.
100% agreed with your post. Good take.
When we are talking about >20 raiders were are specifically talking about casual guilds (or PUGs) that want to experience the content, and get some gear, but are not looking for the accolades a competitive player would be.
The two co-exist really well when you have fleixible raider limits paired with segmented parse brackets. Everyone has their lane they can play in.
Blizz got it right in BWL, which is suprising they went back on it.
Think they want players to quit SOD.
It’s called season of discovery. They are experimenting different things. They might have realized how stupid it was to allow 40/20maning raids that are tuned for 20/10. So they are fixing the raids to be less of a joke like ZG was.
Seriously why even bother spending a lot of time developing new boss fights/mechanics if you can just simply bring twice as many people as it was designed for and completely faceroll it?
