Not sure about the math but it feels like a nerf.
Old event - each alt can complete each zone quest once per week.
New event - one alt can complete each zone quest once per day.
Maybe it depends on how many alts you have whether its nerf or buff? I have a small army of alts and it feels both like a nerf and rushing.
I guess you can’t please everyone, but it seems like the grinders win again. Blizz has got to love that because grinds consume the least amount of resources.
The time required to do a tour per alt vs the time required to just hit the dailies is a win. Also, I’ve noticed the drop rates on doing each activity has increased, and the echo drop rate has increased as well, so you should be able to outfit an alt much faster now.
The potential max per day has been lowered, but you also wouldn’t have to no-life it to get the most out of the event.

Point is you can use a single char to equip all your alts now, if you so wish. It’s simpler in design, and much faster.
It’s not.
- Every boss kill drops 1400 currency.
- Every mini event cleared drops 200ish currency.
- Gear is random drops, usually a couple pieces an hour-ish.
- First kill on every character each week gets you a piece of champ gear.
In two hours, I was able to get 30k currency on a character. It’s 2000 currency per gear piece and 8000 per weapon.

Now if they could just shard it and stop the asinine lag.

Ive made more today than i did the first 2 days. Only thing that kinda stings is gear drops less.
I did all three dailies last night on a level 60 alt, and here’s where thing stood at the end of the evening:
Levelled to 70 (~1 hour; it was crazy fast)
~28K Memories
~2 completed essences and ~1/2 of the third
~6 pieces of lvl 70 gear (plus a few sub-70 pieces) as drops
Stayed for the full hour of the event in Searing Gorge, did about 4 boss kills
Just did the minimum in Dustwallow Marsh (Stage 1 +boss kill)
Stayed for ~40 minutes in Northrend to help farm essences for a guildie; just did 2 boss kills there
The event is much better now; currency come easily (1400 per boss kill alone) and XP is really fast. Drops are so-so, but with so much currency it feels fine to spend it on gear instead of hording it now. I’m definitely seeing more currency in much less time than I was before the event was updated; it seems preferable in the current form to bringing on a new alt every 4.5 hours to do the weekly.
Just thought I’d share my experience; YMMV, of course.

It’s not. We’re getting way more memories unless you’re playing a LOT of hours.
Maybe in terms of time invested (since you could just leave the game in between before), but in terms of how fast you can get levels and gear it’s not a nerf, it’s a HUGE buff.
First of all you can level all your alts to 70 ridiculously quickly/easily with almost no effort, so that’s nice. Then you can grab currency and gear drops significantly faster than before if you’re actively flying around to the points. Also Searing Gorge is the best zone for leveling/points.
So far I’ve leveled about 7 alts from about 50-60ish to 70 since the change yesterday.
What you’re not taking into account is that you can do it CONSTANTLY now, instead of only once every hour and a half. Every event is 200-ish MacGuffins and a huge chunk of experience. Every boss kill is 1400 thingamabobs and another huge chunk of XP.
I’ve been leveling an alt from level 10, she’s about level 35 now and has 30k radiant currency geegaws. If anything, this is an EXCELLENT way to level and gear alts outside of Remix right now.
Edit: I just checked and transferred the Residual Memories that I had on all of my alts to my main. I have 119762 Residual Memories right now, and I’ve already bought the 20k mount.

It is a nerf for alt armies which is the point. That is the direction they already dedicated to with other aspects of the game such as holidays. This is a good thing. Events and holidays were getting to the point where the balance was built around the alt army meta. This only benefitted a few and made some things near impossible for everybody else. Now the balance and pace can be built around goals obtainable by anybody who participates. Participating at an elevated rate can still benefit alts but isn’t necessary and there’s no requirement to have so many alts.
I mean…
It took away the part where you were FORCED to use alts to get more currency. But it’s actually really great if you want to level and gear your alts too. This way people can play how they prefer to play.

Somewhat related to this - items you buy from the vendor can be put into the catalyst but items that drop cannot. Keep that in mind when deciding which character to farm with.
