New races rep grind failed

You poor little thing.

Just because something has always been done one way doesn’t mean it should continue that way for all-time. The game has evolved and changed over 14+ years. Either change with it or move on.

And its changed for the worse and millions upon millions have moved on and more will continue to move on till the player base is not worth blizzards effort to make games for anymore. Can anyone say mobile games???

If you think “millions” quit solely because of flight, then that’s a deep-seated delusion that I can’t help you with, bruh.

Imagine defending time gating race unlocks and forcing someone to play a character they don’t want to play, to only redo that same content and gearing to get back to what they want to. With the slowed down leveling from 7.3.5. :man_facepalming:

If they wanted to tie the story to it, reaching revered and completing the quests associated, should’ve been enough. I argue that my $60 usd grind for the expansion is enough.

Oh no its not just flight. Its the class design, time gating rep grinds scaling and things like that too.

New doesn’t necessarily mean good either. Every feature in this expansion has been built to “soft” test mechanics that would improve the hours played to development ratio. On this particular one they have missed. Hard core.

We went from “THE GAME IS GETTING PANDAS” and so we log on and make a panda, to “WE ARE GETTING ZANDALARI” and then the expansion launches and we don’t get Zandalari for 6 months.

Plus you have to complete all of the PvE content in order to do it.

Of course not, it’s mind-numbingly easy, emphasis on the, “mind-numbing,” part. For players who want to play at their own rate, time-gating the Allied Races behind reputations is not only annoying, but a pretty significant turn-off. It can even be seen as condescending, as if the Developers feel we aren’t capable of managing our own time.

The rep grinds are the easy part.
The leveling for HA is what burns.

Four… and yes, it kind of is. Revered to Exalted is almost as much as Neutral to Revered. There would be a LOT fewer complaint threads (in prelaunch and today) if ARs “only” required Revered.

It’s all to increase time played metrics. A measly 75 rep per WQ lol.

Give players an option to grind it out, or some other way to do so on THEIR terms. It’s not fun twiddling your thumbs for 12 hours waiting for WQs to pop.

The only reason there’s not a way for players to do it on their own terms is because of time played metrics, and it’s sad. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If we were given everything (every raid tier, every rep, every perk, flight, etc…) at the beginning of an expansion. What do you suppose the complaints would be then?

Let’s start a list…

  1. No content. I have burned through everything and there is nothing to do. This is an MMO, it shouldn’t take a month to finish it.

  2. Easy mode. I hate it when everything is so easy and just given to us from the beginning. I remember when we had to work for stuff. Now, it is all just presented on a platter.

  3. There are no special snowflakes anymore. Everyone can get this drop, mount, flight, achievements, etc… I don’t feel special for all the effort I put in to the game.

Need I go on?

I would just play and not worry about the rep. It will tick up slowly but surely just by doing current content.

I do wish we had rep tokens like Legion for alts.

Rep wall for new races was a fairly stupid idea imo.
Two of my friends were willing to sub to wow as new players to play Dark Irons until they found out they would have to level characters they didn’t want to play and rep grind to unlock the chars they did want to play. Shrug, yet another missed opportunity by Blizzard.

Everything counts as flying? lmao.

Flying was given for a gold purchase at level 77 in WotLK and the game was 10x more popular and had 12m subs so… ???

I don’t see any issues with locking the allied races that have come to help us in BfA, as that is current content. I do have an issue with the Legion allied races being locked behind rep grinds. They were introduced as a part of this new xpac, and it seems unreasonable that new people have to go back and play an old xpac for new content. They should have made a quest chain for those allies. Of course if they had spent time doing that, then who knows what the new xpac would look like.

My problem is that you have to continue to play a character that you may plan on replacing to unlock the ability to create a brand new character of the chosen race.

You would hate vanilla then.

So your argument is “well this is the way things are deal with it”.

You have no good reasons to support the rep gating so you fall back on “because Blizzard says so”.

How insightful.

I think part of the problem is how many carrots there are to chase.

If it was like… one rep grind per faction, and then 1 questline per race (i.e. Zandalari Forever for Zandalari, Highmountain Stands for Highmountain, etc), it’d be more tolerable.

There’s no reason for the rep grinds other than to keep you subbed longer so they can make the game look better to shareholders, when in past expansions, if you bought it you got to play the races/classes added out of the gate. People who equate Allied Races to other rep rewards like mounts, transmogs, pets, etc. make a fallacious argument, because we never had this occur before in regards to races.

I did literally every rep grind required for Allied Races and then some, so I’m not keelhauling it because I’m “too lazy” to go for content I want. I think it’s absurd and I absolutely do not blame people for just going, “Nah, not worth it.” and going to play something that tries to make itself worth their time.

I was here for BC. And I raided. no exalted rep was needed for anything so no idea what you’re talking about
