New race/class combinations in Shadowlands

Now seems like the perfect time to add more race/class combinations. It’s been quite a while, lots more customizations are being added to existing races, Death Knights have been added for allied races, and it looks like we probably aren’t getting any all-new classes, either, so…

Could we maybe get some of these? Otherwise, I really cannot find a reason for playing through the new leveling experience, which I would like to do. But as someone who’s played WoW for ages, this feels like another WoD, with no new character creation content for me to level with (classes/races). New class-race combinations would open up more possibilities for returning (and for new) players to do more in the game again.

Because I’d sure love to see, I don’t know…

  • Paladin - Worgen, Kul’Tiran, Void Elf, maybe even Night Elf? Undead? Darkspear troll? I really just want a worgen paladin, but I’d love to see all of those and I’d roll probably one of each. Worgen paladin is what I want to see most, but it makes no sense that kul’tirans can’t be paladins, either. They should have gotten Paladin from the moment they were added. Alliance could use more paladins to even out among their races, the way the Horde gets so much variety among shamans (plus the Horde got Zandalari paladins and we didn’t get Kul’Tiran paladins). But really I’d love to see more paladins for both factions.
  • Monk - Worgen and Goblins, please. They need this; both of them.
  • Shaman - Humans. Kul’Tirans can be shamans, let ordinary humans be shamans, too (the way that Kul’Tirans should be able to be paladins…). Since we have no way of regionally specifying RP-wise where our character comes from, this would let people play Kul’Tirans who aren’t huge (like most of the NPCs there) but are tidespeakers, etc. I’d also personally advocate for worgen shamans, as they are a very wolf-themed class, but as you can see, I have a bias and I’d prefer worgen paladins over shamans - but I would love all of the above.
  • Druid - Blood elves, definitely - draenei? Maybe pandas? Dwarves?
  • Rogue - Draenei.
  • Mage - Tauren.

These are just a few examples.

P.S.: Yeah, I know the lore. Blizz can change the lore and work around it whenever they want to. If someone had suggested tauren paladins in the past or playble worgen at all, you would’ve been laughed out the room (I would know, because I was laughed out of the room at the playable worgen thing several times). We really need more race/class combos. It’d be fun.

Yes please… who cares about lore at this point.

I would love more mechagnome races such as Paladin or shaman.

Also a Human or Nightelf shaman would be amazing as well. Alliance shaman choices are very underwhelming… you’re either big or small.

I made a big thread about this a while back. I will copy-paste my list in here for the heck of it:

Human Druid - If Kul Tirans can do it, why couldn’t they teach other humans? Imagine how cool it would be to have a druid that just turned into… well… regular, normal-looking animals!

Night Elf Paladin - There were two Night Elf paladins (or something very much like paladins) in the Paladin Order Hall in Legion. Just saying.

Gnome Shaman - If freakin’ goblins can be Shamans using totems that look like drilling machines, why not gnomes?

Draenei Rogue - We’ve seen Draenei stealth on Draenor and elsewhere. Kul Tirans can be rogues and they are absolutely enormous, even bigger than Draenei. You think hooves would make it impossible to sneak? I don’t.

Draenei Demon Hunter - Think about it: no race has a connection to the Fel quite like the Draenei. Fits the lore better than any other Alliance race, and they already look demon-ish. Imagine an Eredar-looking Draenei demon hunter, and tell me that wouldn’t be awesome.

Worgen Monk - There is absolutely no good reason that Worgen can’t be Monks. Nearly every other race in the game can be monks, even freakin’ zombies, but for some reason Worgen can’t learn it? Dumb.

Worgen Shaman - I don’t care how you want to make it work in the lore, it’s stupid that Worgen can’t be the one class that can TURN INTO A WOLF.

Worgen Paladin - I mean, Worgen used to be humans. Perhaps some even used to be Paladins. Plus it would just be really cool. Holy Hounds of God and all that.

Pandaren Druid - Tell me this wouldn’t be adorable. And Pandaren are already animal-people who live a peaceful, balanced life. They should be a shoo-in to the druid order.

Orc Demon Hunter - Like I mentioned with the Draenei, Orcs have a very close connection with the Fel. They would be the obvious choice for a new Horde demon hunter race. Imagine some Fel Orc style customization options. Badass.

Undead Paladin - There is now lore about Lightbound Undead or whatever they’re called. So there’s some lore supporting undead finding a way to use the Light in the canon. And anyway, undead paladins would just be cool as hell. I’m pretty sure some NPC ones already exist in the game, IIRC.

Tauren Mage - I mean, why not? Everyone else can do it.

Blood Elf Druid - Picture this: blood elves tapping into their old connection with nature (there are some quests in Eversong that reference this) and becoming druids again. Their cat forms could look like those red lynxes in Eversong. It’d be sweet.

Goblin Monk - As with the Worgen, there’s simply no good reason whatsoever that Goblins can’t be monks when pretty much everyone else can learn to do it.

Dwarf Druid - Animals with big braided beards would also be extremely badass. And we’re getting Wildhammer tattoos now, so that could be worked into the lore somehow. Wildhammers learning the druidic ways doesn’t seem far-fetched.

Lightforged Draenei Monk - The fact that Lightforged were denied the Monk class is idiotic. They have a history of martial arts (see: the Jed-hin quests in MacAree), they are serene and spiritual, regular Draenei can do it, and they need a class that can wear leather armor.

Kul Tiran Paladin - They’re humans. Why can’t they learn to be paladins? It’d be awesome.

Highmountain Tauren Priest - Just like the Lightforged have no class that can wear leather, the Highmountain have no class that can wear cloth. There’s no good reason they can’t be priests if regular Tauren can do it.

Nightborne and Void Elf Demon Hunters - They’re elves. Why not?

EDIT:
Void Elf Paladin - How could I forget this? Now that we are getting normal skin tones for Void Elves, I guess they are the closest we’ll ever get to High Elves, so they NEED to be able to be Paladins!

Draenei Druids - I’m just adding this one because I personally would love it, and it would make one of my characters very very happy. Make of it what you will. :stuck_out_tongue:

Worgen monks and pallys and belf druids are what i want most. More shaman races would also be very good. I really hope we get more class options in shadowlands!

I agree on Kul’tiran Paladins, Void Elf Paladins, Night Elf Paladins, and Undead Ones.

Through I hope the Gnomes get their chance of being Paladins.

Getting more race/class variety would open the game up a lot more, so I’m going to go ahead and nudge this.

I think the lack of blood elf druids with many quests in Eversong and the Ghostlands referencing their ties to nature is insane. There was a world tree there that the Sin’dorei revered named Thas’alah that was torn down by Arthas. The Farstriders rely more on nature than arcane and are even moving further away now due to issues with the Magisters. The Blood Elf race page on the main WoW even states they are moving away from their dependence on arcane magics.

Seriously, long overdue for blood elves to get druids. :dragon::evergreen_tree:

Hear hear! It’d be fun to get more druid races, too, especially with the new level of customization control coming to the druid forms.

Personally, I think, above anything else, I really want worgen paladins at this point. IMO, they can just keep the same mounts as human paladins (even though those desperately need updating).
