A tank spec would be a waste of dev resources, very few people are willing to tank and a new option isn’t going to convince anyone else to start doing it. A melee DPS option would be very nice though, and it feels very strange for a DRAGON to have no way to get in close and rip things apart.

Since they start pretty high maybe I’ll just make one for me weekly onyxia farm. Though that’s also kind of twisted…

It’s just such a silly situation to be in though. Why limit the race to a single class with only two specs? It’s so weird.
Like the new class looks cool and I’m happy it exists. I just don’t get why (aside from trying to save resources) they would limit it so much.

It’s not about increasing the number of tanks. All organized PVE content has too many tanks. This would give all the tank mains a reason to engage with the new class.
Because you’re upset over something we have no control over. If they wanted them to tank they’d be tanks. so instead of either looking at positives and moving on when its a game. You are focusing on a negative. we have enough tanks. we needed a new range and a healer with it is even better.
Honestly I am glad they have left off all the melee roles. By incorporating a tank spec they would have another thing to balance and to echo others here; This is the first class they have introduced since vanilla wow that will be a caster.
While I could see a tank spec making since because the Black Dragonflight are called “Earth Warders” and what a bad a$^ name for a dragon tank. I hope it is not something they add until a few expansions from now.

I’m not upset, I’m just disappointed. 
If I want to keep tanking and play a race (or rather, a similar race) that I’ve been wanting since I first started playing the game, I’m going to have to have multiple characters–and I cannot play my preferred role with, what will undoubtedly be, my preferred race.
It’s just a silly situation to be in in the first place.

Which i understand. Right now we are all trying to come to terms with the model. Which i like and dont like at the same time, but if it could tank. It be a slender dragon model using his claws and no armor to tank. yeah theme wise a earth warder black dragonflight tank would be outstanding. Though the model plus no armor just doesnt fit the theme either.

I think I understand where they come from. Yes, dragon tank probably wouldn’t bring new tanks, but current tank are locked out of the race alltogether if they wanna keep tanking. I’m also fine with the class not tanking, but there should be other class available on the race, one that could tank.

It appears to me that the negative nancies didn’t have legitimate complaints of what was presented at the reveal that they are stooping to cancel ideas on a pre-alpha class……
Y’all need to stop and not scoff at ideas that offer more options… adding a tank does not affect the class at all and I’m all for it even though I don’t like to tank…. More options the better

There are actually no justifiable lore reasons for new DK’s. Bolvar started cranking out new DK’s to combat the rising threat of the shadowlands which is canonically solved now.
Also a dragon is likely to see getting fundamentally changed by “lesser” races as a deep insult which is also probably why no class would apply to them instead of their innate “evoker” one. Classes are essentially tools of mortals who dragons, in a class/caste system, are above.
It’s not so much the class that can’t tank that is a problem. More like the entire race can’t, and that’s a first.

I really like the way they look myself. They look athletic and lithe without being bulky.
I’m just going to keep hoping they add additional classes to them. If not before launch, then later.
I just really want to switch my main characters over to them–especially the tank.

I think what they did is fine. I think it’d be cool if they added a tank spec with earth/bronze spells (bronze for self heal, earth for protection/aoe effects)
But like if it was to only be a dps/heal thing I think they picked the right setup.
