Because the class fantasy of a monk is melee…thus a melee dps and a tank, and a mystical healer who, at their peak of skill, weave melee combat into their healing… so class fantasy fulfilled.

Another bad example. Class fantasy has DH as a melee damage dealer with tanking capabilities granted to them by their extreme agility and demonic enhancements.

Thats the key. That word. EVOKE. bring or recall to the conscious mind, or the second and more common usage, is to evoke a diety, or spirit…basically channeling divinity, or in this case…dragon aspect powers. Dragon ASPECT. Earth is another aspect, and it is being entirely unrepresented. That is not class fantasy, or race fantasy. It is missing a piece.
So why not make it so?

I was not so much talking about why they couldn’t do those role, more that nobody seemed to mind that they couldn’t do them.

I’m fine with Evoker not having a tank spec, though.

Gonna be interesting to see queue times when all these people trying to spam dungeons to level their dragons don’t have a corresponding influx of tanks doing the same.

Yes, but a magical tank is something we never really had before. Nothing says we can’t have that, too. Like where is the shaman tanks. Why can’t I cover my shaman in rocks to reduce incoming damage?

Not really. It’s almost certain Blizzard will give everyone a free boost for preordering or buying the expansion and outside lowbie dragon isle. In fact, I’d be super surprised if in the pre-expansion launch patch, preorders won’t be able to make their dragon in advance and level/play it.

Plus, like I said, I see no reason why Blizzard just doesn’t also make dungeons zerg fest spam and not need the role trinity anymore and just scale to the roles in the group like Torghast, visions, and lowbie isle end dungeon does.

Heck, they need a tank option just so that tanks can play the race.

I’m very happy we’re getting a new ranged dps / healer though. I just wish they’d thrown tank in too (only–and I repeat ONLY–because the race is restricted to ONE class.)

Just slap the ability to be a warrior on the race and call it done. Literally every other race in the game can be one so it’s not like it overly matters beyond giving them the ability to tank. :laughing:

I would say so, simply because the idea of a Dragon class being a 100% squishy, “don’t touch me” non-contact class is just a profoundly stupid, contrary idea. Unless it’s painted on pottery, a “fragile dragon” is basically an oxymoron.

Also, this nonsense of shortchanging new classes on potential specs needs to stop. Demon Hunters got screwed, and we really shouldn’t be normalizing this “66% effort” nonsense. A 66% isn’t a passing rating.

They do not complain, correct. Not because they wanted it, but because it fits the class fantasy… Stop and think about things before you post. Realise that there are other reasons for something than wanting it.
Sometimes, things just make sense.

Look at the damn community. Ppl don’t wanna tank bc of rude ppl.

Also, the last hero class didn’t have a healer. Hero classes never seem to have it all I.e. tank/heal/dps

the new class does not need to be a tank. Death knight tank, Monk tank, demon hunter tank. We are finally getting a new mail class and its ranged caster. we have not had a ranged added since the beginning.

Again, you could have all three–ranged dps, healer, and tank. Being themed around the dragonflights and not having a tank is asinine when considering the black dragons.

Folks are literally applauding Blizzard for putting in less effort (I.e. by only making two specs.)

Anyway, I don’t think it likely they’ll add a third spec. I’m just hoping that they add additional classes to the race because I want to have several Dracthyr and I want to tank on them.

Them being tied to one class is silly.

It’s less that the class doesn’t have the option than that the RACE doesn’t have the option. I figure tons of people like the idea of Dracthyr but main tanks and just… won’t touch the Dracthyr because of it.

Why is there a too be fair, WE can have Tank+ range + Healer in the same class, It’s called a druid, It’s been done before it can be done again.

I’ve been waiting for a dragon race for almost two decades. We finally get one and I can’t play my preferred role? If you don’t realize how utterly annoying that is I don’t know what to tell you. haha

I know several people in the same boat. Career tanks that are like “Well, do I keep tanking and ignore this cool new race OR do I switch to dps??”

Like we need more dps… lol

That isn’t to say we don’t need more RANGED dps, which is great that they have the spec! Nevertheless, a frail dragon that can’t take a hit is not poggers.

Oh certainly, getting the first new ranged dps since the game launched is awesome (and well overdo.)

It’s just they should also be able to tank. I’d literally be okay with Blizzard just slapping warriors on the race.

Just something that can tank.

Warrior, DK has in game lore reasons for new DKs, Druids ('cuz green flight, duh)
don’t need to be too many, but they could definitely pick a primary “This ability is what it MEANS to be a Dracthyr” and call it a racial, then go.
