New Race/Class Combinations Thread

Hello once again fellow denizens of Azeroth!

With the way lore likes to change over the years, I thought I’d take the time to open this thread and gauge what current classes other players may like to see added to their current races that make sense (or aren’t too far of a stretch).

For example, NE Paladins are a likely candidate to arise in an upcoming expansion. To understand what I’m talking about, research the Paladin Order Hall quest chains and you will discover the first NE Paladin (and a ghost) admitted into the order.

I’m sure there are a ton people have in mind, but before you do, I figure I’d share my list of what I’d like to see, but not in any particular order.

Paladins - NE/HMT/Worgen/Gnomes

Monks - Worgen/Goblin (a Goblin monk canonically resides in the Order Hall)

Druids - Dwarves? (Technically this canonically can be filled by WHDs, which breaks the rule of current races, unless they just mesh it with the standard and give a tattoo customization)

DK - Probably Everyone, IDK (If they make a “Wrath 2.0” this may grant just that)

Anyway, be sure to leave your own ideas of combos and have fun with it.

And remember, if you don’t like another person’s ideas, be respectful. <3

KT paladins, Wildhammer druids, void elf demon hunters, void elf pallies

Honestly, Druids for anything, if they can make ‘em make sense.

Zandalari warlocks, like they showed at Blizzcon…

Interesting choices, especially the VE Pally. I kind of imagine it as the exact opposite of a true paladin (like a Nega-Pally). Plays the same, just void-based visuals. Could be really awesome!

Pandaren druids would be fun and wouldn’t be too much of a stretch.

What I really want are Gnome druids. I doesn’t make sense and it would never happen, but I still want them.

I would open all original classes to all races thru BC. Hero classes and allied races I think are fine where they are.

Combo: Pandaren Druids and Warlocks.

Justification for Druids: They clearly care for maintaining balance, and preserving their lands. It is not unreasonable to assume that some individuals would ask their Horde/Alliance bretheren for guidance on following the path of a druid.

Justification for Warlocks: With the exception of the Forsaken, and maybe the Blood Elves, Warlocks are usually always pariahs in the eyes of their racial communities. It is not unreasonable to assume that the naturally adventerous Pandaren mage could end up falling for the same pitfalls other warlocks do: The promise of power, curiosity of the unknown, and embracing the burden of what they deem a ‘neccesary evil’ to protect their people.

Additionally, the arcane is a force that makes the user crave power. Should a mage misuse it enough times, that thirst for power only the fel can sate may eventually become unbearable.

I’m not sorry.

Pandaren could definitely use more balance. Now I know people would assume a panda would get a bear form by default, but I saw a post a while back suggesting that they should use forms based on the celestials. Ox Guardian form, Xuen Feral form, Chi-Ji (moonkin?), Yu’lon (Resto), etc.

Chi-ji should be resto, Yu’lon for balance.

Outside of the mistweaver related stuff, chi-ji was always portrayed as more of a healer, while Yu’lon just did dragon stuff, like breath fire on people.

I made a similar post about this last year. It’s still relevant if you want to have a read.

Honestly, opening the base classes (those that start at level 1) for everybody would be best. If not everybody, at least the original races.

Pandaren are particularly hurting for class options (and only have two tanks). They would benefit greatly from paladins, druids, and warlocks, and it’s a great opportunity to widen the scope of the lore and throw in some humor (such as the Terrible Turnip infernal).

As far as Allied races go, they need some warlocks. The Lightforged in particular could get an inquisitor class with the force-converted former agents of the Legion (lightforged demons) as their minions. It would be mechanically identical to warlock, but spell and icon flavored to the Lightforged’s crusading aesthetic.

Druids for any races without them but they have to be unique and not similar like the Tauren and Darkspear Trolls.

DPS Spec

  • Goblin could be a rat
  • Blood Elves could be a Peacock
  • Orc could be a Boar
  • Forsaken could be anything undead (would love that)
  • Pandaren could be Panda bears, lol (Don’t know about them)
  • Mag’har could be a Dire Wolf
  • Nightborne could be a cat that looks like their mount

PANDA. DRUIDS.

I’ll do some for the ARs:

Void Elves - death knights
Nightborne - druids
Lightforged Draenei - shamans
Highmountain Tauren - death knights
Dark Iron Dwarves - death knights
Mag’har Orcs - druids
Kul Tirans - paladins
Zandalari Trolls - warlocks

Not concerned with parity, just what seems to be missing from each.

Highmountain warlocks because if they could come up with reasons for why orcs and nightborne allowed warlocks to remain in their societies despite their history with demons then they can come up with a reason for Mayla to allow Bloodtotem back in highmountain.

Tauren rogues because some Grimtotem remained in the Horde after Magatha’s exile and with Baine’s imprisonment, this might be a good time for some Grimtotem dirty work.

Given that the only tauren warlocks were of the Bloodtotem tribe, I find it unlikely given their negative presence in Legion.

I’d see it as a no-no from a cultural standpoint. Yet you make a fair point about NB warlocks and how much they detested demons prior. Orcs have the most excuse to use demons out of the three.

Maybe they’ll bring some back into the fold. There’s always a “We’re not the bad ones” scenario with groups like these later on.

I think the argument against rogues for Tauren/HMT/Draenei/LFD was “Hooves”, but if they can each use Camouflage as a hunter… then the rule is kind of broken already.

Very cool ideas. =)

Not all Bloodtotem became feltotem. Some of their warriors were attempting Odyn’s trials, and they were only hostile to the player because Bloodtotem are hostile to everybody (hence why you needed an escort to speak to them in Highmountain). If Mayla or a representative from the Highmountain Tribes were to approach these Stormheim groups, they’d likely rejoin the tribe.

EDIT: Though that doesn’t help much with Warlocks (it might a little), it’d certainly help for Rogues.

I meant in terms of Tauren Warlocks, they solely belonged to that tribe and served the Burning Legion. Not that all Bloodtotem were warlocks.

I know it’s been said plenty, but I’d give anything to play a Pandaren Druid. Such an awesome combo and truly odd they couldn’t already be 'em.

Take all my money! :money_with_wings:
