New pvp player looking for your advice

Hello everyone, i have recently pick up the game and i am wanting to see what information or advice you can give a new player who likes to pvp.

i tried to ask people in general chat but didn’t get anything back so thought it would be better to speak on here.

i have started to do battlegrounds to get honor for my character which has been fun so far.

Is there any addons i would need to get and start using to get comfortable with?

I like playing mage too, is that something that is good in pvp?

sorry for alot of questions and if my English is bad as it is not my first language.

thank you

Solo shuffle is going to be tough with your gear and assuming that you’re newly learning. Given that, it’s probably the quickest way if you can win games. I know SS has a minimum ilvl which is the honor gear level.
I came back to the game a month ago so I’m also still learning.

Watching some mage pvp guides, maybe some skillcapped videos about macros, addons, settings and keybindings.

Get familiar with most classes major CDs with omnibar.

Also if you do arena, Sarena or GladiusEX is recommended.

Addons I use is bigdebuffs, omnibar, Omni CD, GladiusEX, plater, details and DR tracker.

Lastly there is a youtuber that I like watching when it comes to my UI configuration which is JFarm but also Aeghis is good, especially since he’s a mage player.

Also google murlok IO mage pvp (whatever spec you’re playing) to get a general idea how to gear your mage.

Thank you for all the info Cynet! I will start by watching some guides by Aeghis and making sure to buy the correct honour stuff from the vendors.

I’d find someone to do 2s with, skirms and battlegrounds.

If you do shuffle id suggest turning off chat.

Same as any other matchmaking game. The chat will turn sour even if you mention you’re new, jus the how it goes like any other rated game.

Other than the 30 min qs

oh that’s not great…i will play battlegrounds until i feel good enough to try arena. Can i play with any class?

I would suggest skill capped. I got it early on when I first started playing and it helped me so much. Getting advice on here is great too, but skill capped is the most efficient time wise.

It teaches you about the very small things needed to have a proper UI and plenty of information that most players take for granted and don’t ever mention.

100% this, 2s is very good for learning your class in an arena setting. Once you get comfortable with that you can start doing 3s/shuffle to learn how those brackets work.

Turn back now before its too late.

This is the best advice I’ve seen Bubblebuddy give.

Start with battlegrounds and even try some mythic+ You want to develop a really good foundation of controlling your characters basic rotation without having to think about it. Find some tolerable streamers that play your spec and watch how they approach arena.

Solo shuffle is a mutated version of arena but it will be your best bet until you network people to get into real arenas.

Just remember you’re new so people playing for a decade + will probably not want to Q and be fairly toxic to you just brush it off and keep practicing. The game’s crazy fun but starting is a huge hurdle just keep at it.

The best addons are Bigdebuffs (plug and play and the best one)
Sarena or Gladius (hasn’t been working) it’s just a way better arena frame you can tinker with
Details to see how other classes damage breakdowns work so you can do things to stop it.

Good luck!

Yea do all the other suggested by the most important step is
Be frost mage
Abd get free wins because nobody knows they have to dispell frostbomb. Getting started with bgs is a great way to learn what most vlasses can do. Dueling with friends can also be useful.

Leqrning when to be defensive or agressive as a mage is key imo many mages go too aggro or too slippery without doing damage and they just die the moment you catch them
