In legion I ran a Guardian Druid and loved it. I recently came back 3 weeks ago only to find its not even close to the same experience… so I made a Prot Pally. So far I love it, but i have a question
What is the best race for a Prot Pally? I went human, but im considering a couple of the allied races.
My experience between Druid and Paladin are night and day… im mainly running dungeons to level with war quests in between, but I’ve noticed my survivability is higher, and my ability to pull larger mobs and hold threat is even better.
Has anyone else made the switch from druid?
I would strongly recomend dwarf. The racial is handy for all 3 specs. Its not the current meta but not a bad choice either. DI dwarf would also be a good call.
Lightforged Draenei are also pretty awesome - the space lazer is much more fun and useful than I expected. It hits hard and on multiple targets, which is perfect for eating hordes of mobs as a Prot Pally.
Paladins are actually pretty evenly balanced between races, more so than other classes, so just go with what you will enjoy watching.
Depending on what you like. Taurens are fun. You get a health bonus, and a aoe quick stun lol
If you are planning to be exclusively prot i would go with Dwarf for the stone form racial. It gives you a def boost and makes you immune to debuffs.
If you plan to dabble in ret or holy, then Dark Iron is good too. Fire blood will cleanse debuffs and give you a stat boost instead of defense. Also that mole machine was handy while leveling - you can put your hearth in the quest area and use the mole machine to go back to town.

Lightforged Draenei is by far the coolest Alliance race for Paladin. Come on, you get to be INFUSED WITH THE LIGHT.
Lightforged. If i run a dps build the racial is usually around 17% of my dps.
Just to clarify, you aren’t talking about the explosion when you die, right?
I faction changed and went Dark Iron dwarf and cannot recommend it highly enough. You get a small speed boost in most dungeons, and can remove many of the debuffs that various bosses put on you using the racial. It also pumps your strength, and I’ll always take more damage.
It’s also crazy fun as ret in pvp, because you become even more of an unstoppable killing machine =D
Your favorite. Racials don’t really matter as much as people think they do.

This is true, but they do give some quality of life improvements. I’m lucky dwarves are my favorite and they happen to have amazing racials.

Thats usually below 1% its not very significant.
Dark Iron is your best choice for a tank paladin.
Lightforged Spacegoat is BIS for DPS.
Either Dwarf or OG Spacegoat for utility.
Human/Dwarf/DI for PvP.
DID is overrated and unfairly evaluated.
Most races have a utility racial and a throughout racial but DID’s have both baked into one active.
You can’t compare fire blood or whatever it’s called to warstomp. You have to compare it to warstomp plus the 2% added crit damage/healing, for example.
Which faction were you thinking?
Depends on what kind of content you like to do. I went DID, mostly because I’m a BFA player and couldn’t be bothered to go unlock Light forged doing legion content.
I do wish I was Lightforged, but I think DID is a close runner up. doing higher keys I find the racial really clutch for necrotic weeks. You can basically never have to worry about necrotic between DID racial, bubble, and cavalier kiting.
And the BoP/BoP cancel aura macro
Don’t forget that one either
Race doesnt matter really. Tauren has an edge over others though cause of stamina buff, so if youre planning on tanking maybe this is tour race. Otherwise play what you enjoy. I play a blood elf cause it looks cool. I will be switching to Zandalari as soon as i unlock them
Yikes. The bonus health is irrelevant if you have appropriate ilvl gear for the content.
You never have to worry about Necrotic as a Paladin. Just BoP or Bubble it off it if you need too.
