Crafting professions - I can pick up the weekly quest to fill orders - but there are zero orders to fill. The patron orders tab has no orders. This is happening to a number of people and they are assuming it is the old system where they use alts to fill the orders.

Gathering professions. They are working! They use the old system - though it was cruel that in the first week they wanted the most expensive ore and herb… effectively almost 800 gold on the mad current ah prices (I had them in my bank). I am also getting kp drops from gathering (slowly) - decided id go and see if that was working.
Is there a level skill requirement? i only see gather quest
The crafting professions weekly quest are from the artisans room (near where you put in crafting orders) - not from their respective trainers.
Thank you. I was going off of DF setup lol!. However, same issue as you… no patron orders.
BUMP Everyone please keep bumping and liking this comment until the Blues finally give us a response.
bump
the whole profession progression system is literally broken right now, I’m not sure why this isn’t getting the attention it deserves
you decided to remove the weeklies awarding both acuity and knowledge points and put all the eggs in the patron order system basket. which literally doesn’t work right now, so we can’t get any acuity, and almost no knowledge points
1: my patron board didn’t refresh with the reset
2: I only have 3 orders available from before the reset
3: they all ask for expensive, epic crafts, expecting me to supply most of the mats
4: I dont have the recipe for any of them but I also cant get the recipes because i cant get knowledge points without fulfilling patron orders… see the issue with this?
5: but it doesnt really matter anyway cause none of my board quests award acuity, or KP
we need ALL the weeklies back ASAP, or the patron board system fixed
I’m also curious how is a double gathering character, with no patron orders supposed to get enough acuity for their rare profession tools and knowledge point books
1800 per profession, 3600 total… from where exactly?
There is a weekly quest for gatherers requiring you to hand in mats. (In this case the quests comes from the profession trainer just to be consistent). Additionally you get knowledge points drops (5 1kp and then a final 2kp) as you mine and/or herb and/or skin). Im told (but havent yet found this) that you can get 1kp items from treasures - not sure if theres a weekly allocation or we just keep looting treasures endlessly (some documentation would be nice).
we had all of those in DF as well and also a weekly quest rewarding extra acuity for gatherers as well. if the acuity weekly is replaced by patron board orders double gatherers are basically left out in the cold
surely this can’t be intended
The issue of unfillable patron orders was raised on beta a number of times - and they were warned it would make people give up on the system. There are meant to be about 11 orders for kps and artisans acuity - not three. Some of them will be unfillable early on - but there is a catch up system where if you are behind the system is meant to give you additional easier to fill orders in the next week. The orders are also meant to update half way through the week when the world quests reset. This information should be being provided by Blizzard and not ascertained by trial and error.
I’ve gottten five slab of state and five null sliver from mining and one or two items from dirt. Each gives at least five AA a piece and 1 KP with the dirt item giving 3 KP.
to clarify, I have three orders total but none rewarding either, KP, or acuity
I’m okay with having “aspirational” orders added to the board next to those mandatory to progress the profession, the problem is that we don’t have the low level orders right now. in any quantity
iterating on the base design over time is fine, but the critical issue of not being able to progress professions according to the current design, at all, must be hotfixed asap
and ye, some documentation about the design would be also nice. I needed the scrounge the same information you listed from 3-deep linked wowhead articles
Yes the issue of double gatherers aa per week was raised on beta as well. You get about 100aa week - 15 from the profession quest and 35 from KP drops for each gathering profession. You need 1800aa to make the rare gathering tools and accessories (thats 14+ weeks if you take the bonus 350kp into account). Additionally you can spend 1800aa on knowledge point books from the artisans - another 18 weeks. You can also get 10aa from inscription treatises a week and an unknown amount perhaps from treasures. Then your aa is done - and there are now goods bags from the artisans for 500aa that give you a bag of goods with rank3 materials.
exactly! Blizz definitely didn’t do the math on this one
it takes longer to get a rare profession toolset than a 600+ ILVL gear set. obviously there must be an additional source of acuity added to the game
Just adding here that I too do not have any kind of work order available (literally none) on any character for any profession.
A buddy of mine does have Patron orders just fine (not to get into the randomness of them).
So, some people do have them and some don’t. Points to a bug with some accounts perhaps? Either way, I am pretty much hard stuck on any further progress for my non-gathering professions.
My guess was it is something like if you have done all the knowledge treasures and bought one of the kp books then the system assumes you are ahead and gives no orders. Who knows about the randomness of it. Of the 5 people online in my guild 4 have no orders and one has a few orders - and there is no discernable pattern that makes the person with a few orders different.
Unfortunately my friend also went hard with the knowledge books and still got orders. I don’t think it is strictly that which causes it.
to provide more data I’m level 90 BS, got all treasures, and did indeed buy the BS book from my initial acuity (plus the Kej book)
my alchemy is 58, all treasures, no acuity book, yes Kej book, zero patron orders
I haven’t seen any patron orders yet on any of my toons with a variety of professions.
I kept herbing after finishing the weekly. The last drop gave 4kp which was more than on beta. Additionally I have had 5 1kp deepgrove roots drop for 5 extra kp. They were common on beta to enable fast levelling of profession trees for testing. i think that is a bug too (I reported separately). Im wondering how many of us here played beta and the way install copies stuff from beta rather than downloading again has affected us.
