"New players have joined" system announcement every ~10 minutes

I’ve recently started getting a quite spammy system message while playing that I can only assume is related to being a Guide in Newcomer Chat. Every 10 minutes or so I’m updated on how many new players have joined in those last 10 minutes and reminded “Don’t forget to ask if you have any questions.” Which, apart from being rather uninteresting and repetitive, is grammatically confusing. Why would I have questions? Or am I supposed to be asking the new players if THEY have questions?

I’ve been a Newcomer Guide for a while and this is my first time seeing this message. I looked but only saw two other threads talking about this, but couldn’t find any info on why it’s happening or how to turn it off. I’m curious if it was due to being online during low-traffic hours as some kind of bid for proactivity to compensate for having only a few guides online, but the weird phrasing of it makes it seem more like an accident than a helpful reminder.

Any ideas?

So what have you been doing as a Newcomer Guide if not answering questions from newcomers?

I’ve been doing exactly that. But I’m not in the habit of announcing my presence to a silent chat channel.

Edit: to be clear, this is a system message I’m talking about, not anything said in the Newcomer Chat channel by other players

That sounds like a bug ive never goten that message. And yes im a guide.
