New players are not welcome in this game

I started playing before the Shadowlands launch and all i’ve found from players and even Blizzard is gatekeeping.

I really liked this game and i think it has a lot of really nice people but i feel like i am not welcome here, i’m talking about the Mage Tower return, yeah i did not play this game since Vanilla or TBC like most of you, even Legion, but giving NEW people (what this game needs) an opportunity to get nice stuff like IMPORTANT CLASS FANTASY customization should be something.
The rewards are almost 5 years old, that’s a long time exclusive.

Why not give something to players that already have the rewards? Like a title or more tints but not allowing instead of adding stuff is not a good thing.

I won’t be a better player than someone that already have the cosmetics rewards because I have them too.

Well that’s all i have to say. I know i’ll read a lot of comments mocking or even hating on this but i really don’t care, i also know a lot of new or returning players feel the same way i do.

It devalues the effort put in by the players that were told this was a limited time event.
Blizzard lied to us.
Hope you can wrap your head around that.

I agree that it does devalue it. If the difficulty is the same, it’s not AS much of an insult as it would be if they brought it back and it didn’t scale, that you could trample all over it like you can green fire now. If they offered a feat of strength for anyone who did it originally, that would be nice.

Stopped reading here. Mage Tower appearances were a souvenir for people who played and overcame a specific challenge in Legion. There’s hundreds of thousands of weapon appearances in the game. You’ll survive without three of them.

To be fair, I also rushed to get some of them done.

Had I known they would be re-released 4 years later… I still would have rushed to get them done. I wouldn’t want to wait four years.

I didn’t play during Legion though I do regret not doing so.
I don’t feel entitled to limited time rewards because of it though because the players who did earn it at the time it was available put in that effort to do so.
I don’t know, maybe it’s because I have limited time only things and that’s why I feel that way but I can’t get over the overt entitlement of some of these players.

This is a good idea.

If the Green Fire was an exclusive and limited time event, I would have defended the MT appearances giving the exclusive and limited time event appearances and not for it to return.

But the Green Fire is not an exclusive so… uh…

Arbitrary exclusivity is silly.

I would not recommend this game to new players.

It’s 17 years old and unless some major changes happen the population will keep declining. I’m curious to see how many people pay for their subs compared to token buyers. As their MAUs are falling but their sales are up.

Right now is not a good time to be new to WoW. I’d suggest other games that respect your time.

the only reason its an issue is because it was advertised as limited time. if that didnt happen, then there wouldnt be any legitimate argument for the skins that are gone.

Yeah and they gave a feat of strength for those who did green fire when it was relevant. I mean, they’ve given feats of strength for so many things, why not that?

from the first expansion there was time limited stuff - most players have missed out on something but it is an oh well for most people.

there are all kinds of things in the game to get, it makes no sense to be so concerned about something you can’t when you have such an opportunity to get the others.

A title, too.

I mean I got a “Of the Black Harvest” title.

Which is… cool I guess? But I would like to have the Artifact Appearance of Apocalypse. Where as a warlock who started in 2020 can just buy it off the AH and just do the Green Fire and then bam, he’s happy.

It’s a beautiful looking runeblade that I’ll never get, due to my own real life reasons. Imagine a video game not respecting that.

Oh well.

The best title evar.

for someone who is doing the content OP is doing it is a very good game - he has all kinds of stuff to collect that he hasn’t touched on. anyone who just collects can make very efficient use of their time.

Yeah OP, it relies a lot on fear of missing out tactics.
And lots of people seem to want to ‘feel special’.

Doesn’t devalue anything. But they seem to think so.

Firstly, welcome to the game, really hope you stick around because new blood is always nice to see. Secondly, though it’s unfortunate that you weren’t around for MT, you can still work on things and collect thousands of other armors in the game. Other MMO’s do this, GW2, FFXIV, Destiny 2, ESO, there’s nothing wrong with rewarding your players with limited items from certain periods in time. It gives those players goals and associates special memories with those particular times and appearances. It’s not the majority of items and only less than a fraction.

Yes, that too!

Me too. One of the achievements I’m most proud of. Yeah, people can buy it now and mow over the quest but at least we have something to show we endured the most challenging fights (or one of the top) in the game.

But this is the world we live in. New generation gamers want everything everyone else has. Wait a year and we’ll see "We want our “Of the Black Harvest” titles too! This is what happens when the internet gives you so many avenues to buy accolades you didn’t earn… people get used to it and start craving it.

So you just started in Shadowlands, but you are making a big post complaining about Mage Tower.

Gonna call shenanigans.

This game is very hard for newer players to get into. Once they get to level 60, it’s mind boggling how many systems they need to learn and grind out.

PvP isn’t even accessible and has been talked about on the PTR forums with how much of a barrier it is for newer players.

There are just way too many systems in the game for a totally brand new player to understand.

World of Warcraft sucks with retaining new players.

Engadget did an article where 70% of trial accounts quit before level 10.

If you’re losing 70% of new customers before the first ten levels your game isn’t new player friendly.
