Title. I need it to be VERY simple and then I can evolve it as I go - The base game one doesn’t add any options and I was reading about some add ons where the bar turns a certain color when you need to kick them, or they are a priority kill or it has a quest icon if it is needed in a quest… stuff like that.
Any suggestions…? Again, still figuring everything out so need it to be pretty simple and linear.
Thx in advance. I did play in 8.3 for like 3 months so I have general idea of what I am doing, but that is the extent of my experience.
I’m a fan of Plater myself. After all the UI changes I ditched most of my addons, the base UI works pretty darn well for everything. But I still use Plater.
I like that it shows my debuffs on the targets above their nameplates, and I can adjust the colors so I can tell when I’ve got aggro, and I can also change them to make the nameplates of quest mobs like bright pink which is helpful when questing.
Also, for a noob I’d also suggest getting Coordinates or similar, because if you get stuck with a quest or what to look up the location of an item/rate/etc and look it up on wowhead or some other forum, most of the time you’re going to get map coordinates, and you’ll need an addon for that.
Deadly Boss Mods and GTFO are also staples. I’d strongly recommend those.
That’s basically all my addons, besides my nerdy RP ones and transmog ones.
Nah. They break for maybe a few days, but a lot are pretty good at preloading updates now. So they don’t horrendously break like they did in the old days
I tried Elvui once and it was such a drastic change that i played worse for that week i had it than any other time in my WoW career.
Ive learned to use the basic UI and adapt and now it’s all just second nature. After awhile you just learn to know what to kick and which mobs to prioritize
Thats all I’ve ever used. The only thing I do is make it transparent and remove gryphons with addons lol.
But the day they added edit mode. I spent an hour resetting my ui to pre df default.
My problem with the base UI name plates compared to plater is that the base UI name plates don’t support tall enemy models, so when I rely on the name plates for debuff timing default gives me inconsistency.
Plater constrains the name plates to the screen even when an enemy character model is 30 ft tall.
Plater is the best user friendly nameplate addon. It has so many features, nameplates bigger, group certain adds, make nameplate pop up more and have arrows pointing to the sides depending on who is in focus.
