I just started like a month ago and really wanted to play Mechagnomes and Kul Tirans. I found out I can’t start with those characters, which sucked, but decided to suck it up and level a Panda Shaman through BfA so I could unlock them. Little did I know how long it would take me.
I didn’t know about the ability to turn off XP so after a few weeks of questing all the way from 1-50 and getting loremaster I started in on the next steps to unlocking the races… which caused me to level to 51 which now means I cannot queue for BfA dungeons (I didn’t know this beforehand).
I know some might say, “just level to 60 and solo the dungeons” but I wanted to experience Shadowlands once. I’m not one to make alts. The only reason I made a Panda was to be able to unlock the allied races ‘quickly’ and do the full story on that character.
Thankfully I was able to find someone to queue me for Tol Dagor but now I have to do a shrine dungeon to rescue Jaina and then I hear I have to do another dungeon ‘raid of Boralus’ AND ‘Mechagon’ (if I want to unlock Mechagnomes).
Tbh this is just too much and is really killing my desire to play the game.
The disparity between unlocking the Horde Allied Races compared to the Alliance ones is quite frustrating. Horde do not have to run dungeons. Those requirements should be removed for Alliance.
I can agree, but honestly I enjoyed questing through Kul’Tiras/Zandalar so much that it wasn’t a big deal. I unlocked them both in a few days each. I had a few times where I got burnt out but then I went back and it was fun again.
Although, I’m at least happy they removed the rep grind, at least it’s something.
I made a similar thread to this one when I was unlocking the allied races, trust me it can suck
they already made them ridiculously easy to get - if you are a new player and complaining about the amount of effort now for these, you might want to consider another game.
But it does say that having to jump through hoops to play the race they want to play is killing their desire to play the game…which is a horrible outcome caused by an unnecessary system
I’m definitely up for putting effort into my characters but I feel as though I’m not able to put effort into MY character. My Panda is just a stepping stone for me to be able to actually start the game. It’s been a month now and I haven’t been able to start MY character, you know what I mean?
Removing only one rep requirement did not make them “ridiculously easy to get,” when dungeons that you cannot solo and cannot queue for are part of the requirements.
All zones must be completed, an entire campaign must be done, and the dungeon requirement for Kul Tiran.
As opposed to Legion where only one zone storyline needs completed.
you didn’t have to decide on an allied race - people did without those for 14 years. so no I don’t believe you at all
actually you aren’t a new player either - you have achievements from at least 2019 which was BFA on there and a max level character. No reason you couldn’t have done all these then.
