I subscribed for my first month of game time and managed to get to 70 and managed to farm enough to buy a WoW Token, but upon trying to buy one, it said that “Game Time must be purchased at least once on this account to be eligible to buy a WoW Token with gold”.
I looked it up on the battle net shop and I saw 60 days of Game Time being sold there. Will buying that once enable me to buy WoW Tokens using gold from that point onwards, or how does it work? Thanks in advance.
I haven’t come across this before. However, the support article
says at the bottom:
You cannot purchase a WoW Token unless you have spent real money to purchase and use at least 30 days of game time since 2017. The first paid month needs to have fully passed.
Now, you say that you subscribed - was it with a credit card? - for your first month. That should count as “spent real money to purchase and use at least 30 days of game time” but maybe your first month has not already completely passed, if you still have Game Time?
I am guessing that this is the problem here, because I am taking the support article at its word.
However, buying a 60-day gametime and completing your 30 paid days in the game would certainly also be more than enough to meet the requirements.

Yes it was using a card, so I thought it would have been considered since that should have been real money. I was wondering if by “Game Time” they specifically meant buying Game Time from the shop and subscribing didn’t count, but I didn’t see a 30 day Game Time package only a 60 day one, so I got confused since it said “at least 30 days” which should have been a month of subscription

Yes, that is the case right now, I do hope that is the only reason that I cannot buy it yet so that I can buy Game Time using a Token after my subscription expires, but if it doesn’t work then I guess I’ll have to buy the 60 day Game Time from the shop.

Well,
- IF you have enough gold, and
- IF the Token price doesn’t increase above the amount of gold you have by the time your current gametime expires
- THEN you could let your gametime expire, fulfilling the 30-days criterion, and buy a Token from the character screen for another 30 days with your Gold
and if, for some reason, something goes wrong with the plan, you could then resort to the 60-day gametime from the Store.
