New Pirate Class & More in World of Warcraft: Tides of Plunder!

Y’aaaaaaaaargh! I’m a pirate Larry!

Come closer!

Even closer!!!

Let me tell ya…

about the new pirate class!

Y’aaaaaaaaaa-haaaaargh!

In the new expansion for World of Warcraft, “Tides of Plunder”, players will be introduced to a brand new class: the Pirate. With three distinct specializations to choose from: Swashbuckler, Buccaneer, and Mistcaller, each embodies a unique class fantasy and gameplay style, catering to a wide variety of player preferences within new game modes and zones to explore.

But that’s not all!

Parrot: But that’s not all!

Swashbuckler (Tank Spec):
Swashbucklers are the fearless defenders of the crew, protecting their allies with cunning swordplay and a dash of charm. They are known for their agility, quick thinking, and the ability to turn the tide of battle with their flashy combat techniques.

Abilities:
Captain’s Resolve: As leader of the crew, the Swashbuckler inspires their allies, granting a temporary boost to their versatility and damage output (+50% versatility)
Boarding Charge: Swashbucklers can close the gap with a stunning charge, temporarily incapacitating foes and lowering their armor by 12/24/50% for 15 seconds. Each stack refreshes duration.
Plunder’s Promise (all three specs): Gain stats and set effects based on all the armor or weapons that are currently in your inventory (in addition to what is equipped). Can customize this based on new UI for slots that handles plunder that you find on your travels. Also works with all items throughout Azeroth including greys, whites, and greens breathing new life into old items. This is a passive.
Parry and Riposte: The swashbuckler can parry incoming attacks for 6 seconds, and respond with a powerful counter-attack, dealing that damage back as elemental damage.

Well, well…

Color me a swashbuckler!

Buccaneer (DPS spec):
Buccaneers are the agile and cunning pirates who are experts in dealing damage from range and close-quarters combat. A hybrid melee and ranged spec, they are masters of dual-wielding, firearms, and warfare tactics.

Abilities:
Richochet Shot: Buccaneers can fire their flintlock pistols with deadly precision, dealing high ranged damage and bouncing off up to 5 nearest enemies. Steals 5 magic buffs upon dealing damage, and one less buff each time it deals damage thereafter. Buffs last 30 seconds. Effect can change depending on set bonus in new UI slots from Plunder’s Promise.
Cutthroat Combo: A combination of quick dagger strikes, dealing damage overtime and marking them on your minimap.
Pickpocket: Go into the belongings of an enemy and get the loot! A raid boss or dungeon enemy will grant an appropriate difficulty and ilvl reward in addition to the end of run ones. In PvP, will take up to a green item, including soulbound items. Can be upgraded to blue and purple through various questlines, mythic raids and augment drops from chest treasures around the world.
Cannon Barrage: Calling upon the power of your ship, upgrades your ranged weapon into a cannon, unleashing a devastating area-of-effect attack that damages and knocks down enemies. Plunders promise can upgrade this to add the effect of hearthstoning everybody killed back to their hometown or various other effects that are acquired from rare drops throughout the expansion.

Woah, ho… ho!

Gimme the loot!

Parrot: Gimme the loot!

Mistcaller (DPS Spec):
Mistcaller practitioners are mysterious and enigmatic, wielding ghostly and ancient powers to control the battlefield. They can manipulate magic, the disembodied, and summonings to aid them and their crew.

Abilities:
The Old Fleet: The ability to summon an entire army of ghostly pirates to aid in battle. Plunders Promise will give different effects and attacking abilities to them.
Blackbeard’s Doom: Causes massive and fatal damage after a 10 second countdown. Will always succeed.
Spectral Miasma: Causes a large mist to surround the enemy, inflicting damage overtime until death or dispelled. Allies that come into contact with the inflicted enemy will also receive the mist.
Rainstorm: A large area-of-effect ability that heals allies that stand in it and/or channels health from enemies.

By Davy Jones’ locker, I’ve never seen the likes of this before! I’ve got a chill in me bones that’d make a ghost shiver!

Parrot: Sqwauk!!

New Game Modes

An old pirate–a friend of mine–named Chris swallowed up by a sea monster!

Chrithulhu’s Arena:
In the expansion “Tides of Plunder,” World of Warcraft introduces a revolutionary and exhilarating game mode known as “Chrithulhu’s Arena.” This mode changes the raiding experiences dramatically, allowing 40 players to face off against a formidable raid boss like never before. However, what sets this new mode apart is the twist in the raid boss concept: the raid boss isn’t controlled by an NPC but by another player who volunteers or earns the right to take on this challenging role.

The Concept:
Chrithulhu’s Arena is a grand spectacle held in a mysterious and eerie location shrouded in ancient pirate lore (one arena similar to Helheim). Here, brave adventurers assemble to test their mettle in a series of phases against a monstrous entity known as Chrithulhu–a name that strikes fear into the hearts of even the boldest champions. The catch is that Chrithulhu is not just any NPC raid boss; it’s a player-controlled character, adding an entirely new layer of challenge, excitement, and rewards to the encounter.

Fight for the chance:
To become Chrithulhu, players must prove their worth through in-game challenges, events, and riveting quest lines. Those who are successful take on this responsibility and are bestowed with unique abilities and powers that make them a true force to be reckoned with.

For the 40-player raid team, facing Chrithulhu is unlike any other encounter they’ve experienced. The player-controlled raid boss can adapt, strategize, and react to player actions in real-time, making every attempt unpredictable and engaging. This dynamic encounter tests the raid’s coordination, adaptability, and communication like never before.

Unique Abilities:
Chrithulhu is granted a set of powerful and thematic abilities that befit its monstrous nature. These abilities might include summoning a storm of tentacles, creating cursed zones all over Azeroth, or unleashing devastating voodoo charms on players. Each ability challenges raiders to think on their feet and adapt their tactics to survive.

A new season of rewards:
Defeating Chrithulhu in this unique game mode yields epic rewards, including gear, mounts and cosmetics. The most promising rewards are augments that players can use to change and alter the effect of spells and abilities, similar to Plunders Promise, which adds new and exciting customizations to old class fantasy. And, the bragging rights of conquering a player-controlled raid boss add to the allure.

Chrithulhu’s Arena in the expansion “Tides of Plunder” is a groundbreaking addition to WoW, redefining the raiding experience by allowing players to step into the shoes of a raid boss. This innovative game mode brings a new level of excitement, unpredictability, and camaraderie to the game, ensuring that the high seas of Azeroth are filled with thrilling adventures and epic battles as far as the eye can see!

It looks like we got one more on the list!

PvP Bounty Hunting:
In “Tides of Plunder,” World of Warcraft seeks to turn its attention back to player versus player, introducing an electrifying new game mode called “Bounty Hunting.” This mode transforms the world of Azeroth into a lawless, high-stakes battleground where players engage in thrilling pursuits, hunting down their adversaries, and claim fantastic PvP rewards.

The Concept:
Bounty Hunting is an extension of the War Mode system, allowing players to voluntarily enable it and enter a world filled with danger and excitement. Once War Mode is enabled, players are eligible to become both the hunters and the hunted. They can track down and defeat other War Mode-enabled players, accumulating bounties and reaping rich rewards.

Bounty Hunting introduces a unique tracking system that identifies eligible targets. Players are then able to track down other War Mode-enabled characters based on factors like their in-game actions, infamy, or recent PvP victories. The more notorious a player becomes, the higher the bounty on their head.

The new Bounty Hunting game mode is a significant enhancement compared to the existing system where players are marked with an icon for achieving a certain number of kills on the world map.

The allure of Bounty Hunting lies in the enticing rewards it offers to successful hunters. Players who defeat their targets can claim a variety of PvP-centric rewards, including:
Bounty Tokens: These tokens can be exchanged for exclusive PvP gear, mounts, and cosmetics, creating a powerful incentive to pursue bounties.
Infamy Points: Accumulating infamy points contributes to a player’s reputation as a renowned bounty hunter. Gaining infamy can unlock unique titles, transmogrification items, and other prestige rewards.
Gold and Plunder: Defeating bounties yields generous gold rewards and resources, allowing players an alternative to the profession and gathering system.
Notoriety: Players who consistently perform well in Bounty Hunting may earn a special notoriety status, showcasing their prowess on the battlefield and granting additional augment rewards (for Player and Plunder’s Promise)

Dynamic PvP enctouners await as players find themselves in intense chases, elaborate ambushes, and epic showdowns with formidable foes. The open world becomes a battleground, with factions and allegiances shifting constantly. This mode will encourage interaction and cooperation among PvP enthusiasts.

Whether you’re a seasoned PvP veteran or a newcomer, Bounty Hunting promises endless excitement and the opportunity to become a legend in Azeroth.

Well well, well!

I wonder if me old archrival is readin’ this right now!

Parrot: Who’s your old archrival!

It would not surprise me if they did the whole tides of plunder and pirates … because they already did it. Blizz/MS/ACT does not seem to be able to come up with a single original idea. Another regurgitation of past content? Yup that is what they are all about right now. Almost like they have lost some sort of talent to create new things.
.

at least we got chris metzen back so he can drive new ideas

I’d play that. :upside_down_face:

They aren’t doing another pirate or water expansion with BfA not that long ago.

But, we could get all the worst parts of WoW in a single expansion, more underwater zones (cause we didn’t hate Vashjir enough the first time) and caves like Deepholm, whole boring brown and gray zones for two years. And don’t forget all the dated Jack Sparrow pirates v ninja jokes from 2005. Yep, fun!

this sounds like a copy of the upcoming ffxiv pirate xpac lol

Technically dawntrail isnt a pirate expansion, its just hes dressed like one. But the actual content takes place on island. All that pirate stuff died ages ago with Limsa eliminating piracy.

While I know this is meant to be a joke, some of that sounds like fun.

“No pirates”. None of that weird stuff above lol

Keep in mind that Blizzard also said Vulpera would not be an allied race (they were) that no allies races would be added in Patch 7.3.5 (there were) and that Blood Elves would never get blue eyes (they do).

The list of things they’ve said we’re not getting, which we turned out to be getting is quite long. So Mike Ybarra saying “No pirates.” doesn’t mean we’re not going to get an expansion involving Pirates.

But you see, this was done through a cryptic post on X with zero context by Blizzard’s President on his personal account. Completely more trustworthy. /s

But I don’t want pirates, so I’m going to keep on believing, lol.

WoW expansion fanfic.

Did they? I don’t recall that.

What? The Allied Races released that patch were the pre-order bonuses for BFA… we knew from the moment Allied Races were announced we’d be able to play them that patch.

Ion’s exact words were that Blood Elves had, ‘evolved past blue eyes.’ The man is no lore guru. He’s also the man who said it wouldn’t make sense for Zandalari Druids to have Dino forms, and then three days later, their dino druid forms were datamined. He was also against Zandalari Paladins.

I’m not saying Blizzard hasn’t reversed course on content players have asked for in the past to which they said, “No.” That having been said, I don’t see why there would be pirates next expansion. We’re supposedly going to the continent of Avaloren. Unless there are land pirates… I don’t see how they’d fit in.
