New Pets for Seafarer's Dubloons on PTR

I don't play on the PTR, but on the warcraftpets discord, just been informed that there's now some new pets from new vendors that are sold for seafarer's dubloons. (100-250 each) There's also toys ranging from 100-500 each (including a crab toy that lets you summon a cranky crab that your battle pet can ride on for 200 coins, though most of the toys are general toys, but useful for people still after Brutus!). And even a seahorse mount.

I've even heard there's new pets dropping from the new islands as well.

On top of the already 23 new pets added in the patch, this brings our current new pets for patch 8.1 up to approximately 36, which might actually be the biggest addition of pets in a patch we've had, if my counting of the new pets on MMO-Champion is correct.

I don't have any info on them though (other than their names), so if anyone has info on them, it'd be appreciated. I don't even know if they're on a permanent vendor, or if they're attached to the rotating vendor. That's something I'd like to know, especially since the rotating vendors seem to be on a 2.5 month rotation.

The new pet names are:

120 Companion Pets Albino Duskwatcher
120 Companion Pets Shadefeather Hatchling
120 Companion Pets Firesting Buzzer
120 Companion Pets Lord Woofington
120 Companion Pets Tonguelasher
120 Companion Pets Scritches
120 Companion Pets Thunderscale Whelpling
120 Companion Pets Crimson Octopode
120 Companion Pets Nightwreathed Watcher
120 Companion Pets Baby Stonehide
120 Companion Pets Leatherwing Screecher
120 Companion Pets Rotting Ghoul
120 Companion Pets Needleback Pup

That said, I feel like some warning from Blizzard would've been nice. I've blown through hundreds (if I had to guess, probably around 800-1000) of coins over the past 2 months on consumables to speed up expeditions that I would've saved had I known that a vendor was coming. Now I'm down to like 200 coins, and with how slow the coins come (with all of my pets obtained, I don't exactly have the drive to run 8-12 hour in a row for days at a time expeditions again which is how I got so many in the first place), it'll probably take forever to get just the pets, let alone the toys/mount. Bleh.
From what I've seen browsing mmo champ & wowhead, all these items are on one new vendor: Captain Klarisa/Captain Zen'Taga. This gives me the impression these vendors are not inside the scenarios, but are permanent ones in the same area as the island 'mission table' thing you use to launch expeditions.

Here's list of what I can see they have for sale:
saltwater seahorse, mount - 500 coins
gnarlwood waveboard, toy (surf board, probably like anglers raft) - 500 coins
cranky crab, toy (battle pet mount) - 200 coins
albino duskwatcher, pet - 200 coins
hand anchor, toy - 150 coins.
crimson octopode, pet - 100 coins

Whether this is all their wares or are final prices... dunno yet.

Why such an unreasonable reaction? You used your coins how they were meant to be used. Blizzard now has added a vendor, one players have been asking for, giving a new use for the coins and your reaction is to complain about not getting enough notice. That just feels wrong to me, it is like Blizzard cannot win for losing.

I bet there is one dev using this thread as the reason why they should have just made them drops instead of vendor items.

I suspect they didn't even know they were going to do this. This was a last-minute decision.

I suspect that the devs, Muffinus in particular, frequent this board much more often than they let on. Perhaps they saw our complaints about how we wished the pets were purchasable with dubloons and decided to add some.

Now that I know, I'm going to keep doing these and saving dubloons. And I'll probably get some more pets in the process.
Cool.

Thanks Blizzard.

Details on all 8.1 datamined and upcoming pets: https://www.warcraftpets.com/wow-pets/unlisted/

As for the new 8.1 IE pets...the majority don't seem to come from the vendor. Only 2 have journal entries that specifically state they can be purchased. The rest are listed from the generic "Island Expedition".

I wasn't aware that there would be rotating IE vendors. As far as I can tell, there's just the one for each faction, but maybe their inventory rotates based on the islands each week.

I'm grateful and happy that Blizzard is going with vendors this time around, however, I'd be even MORE happy if ALL IE pets were added to it. To make it more interesting, they could add a specific "unlock" mechanic for each pet, similar to the BFA vendor pets. Kill certain or specific IE mobs to unlock X, do an IE objective to make Y pet visible on the dubloons vendor, etc. Then, should you get really unlucky, you can save up dubloons and buy the pet. Giving us the option to grind it out/hope for RNG OR to grind it out and buy the pets at our own discretion would make it a much more enjoyable experience.
I'd really like that.

"Want the Mogu mount get lucky or after killing 500 Mogu themed rares you can now buy it for 500 Dubloons."
Also i really !@#$ing hope this gets changed.

Spawn of Krag'wa - Drop

- Drops from The Battle of Dazar'alor (also known as, The Burning of Zuldazar or Siege of Zuldazar) raid (Mythic difficulty) <-==
- Paku's Aspect (Loa Council encounter)
Good to know before I spent more of the small amount I've collected. Glad I stop by and read forums from time to time, or else I wouldn't know much at all about this expansion's news or changes.
Are dubloons bind on account so all my alts can save them up?
Dubloons are character specific.
I suspected this could happen so I haven't spent many of my dubloons just in case, looks like I made the right call

Great stuff Blizz!

Character specific but the rewards are account wide so they're practically account wide.

Lmao, they better not make a pet drop only from Mythic Raid Difficulty.

I still don't have the Tomb of Sargeras Meta Pet or Lagan.
I'm fine with this system, like others I would prefer they add the old pets and mounts to the vendor as well, but it's nice to have something to spend the dubloons on. I'd also be happy if they made all the pets cage-able.

The pet for getting Tomb Raider title? Check out the Perky Pugs Discord if you get a chance. There is a group that runs the Meta Achievements for the mounts and such. There are two leaders-one Alliance side and one Horde.
Oh wonderful.

Even more pets gated behind doing Island Expeditions over and over and over.

Just hope they are cageable and they don't inconspicuously make some of them uncageable like the 4 elementals, Nibs, and Kunchong. :P

Happy to report that all Island Expedition pets, except for the current elemental spirits, will be cageable in 8.1.

Agreed. This is a lame way to get pets made even worse by the sheer amount gated. Just think how many of those could've been spread out as rare spawn wild pets, drops from Pandaria style pet supply bags, achievements, fishing rewards, etc. Instead they're all piled into what is essentially this expansion's Withered Training with fox mount level rarity.

At least you had the option to buy all the Timeless Isle pets. Avid collectors will have to grind, grind, grind for those uncageables.

I'll go the extra mile and hope that, if this works out and people start flocking to get dubloons to get the pets/toys, near the end of the expac (as in, when the content is about to be dubbed 'outdated' as the new expac gears up), they'll add everything else.

Unless they WANT us to go back and farm old content (not out of the question, if current trends suggest anything) and give us solo queues like LFR has.

Edit;
Some of you are absolutely impossible. "I can't get the drops, can I just buy them with coins?" Blizzard hears, Blizzard pushes pets/toys for coins. "Ugh, I have to go get coins?"
You're freakin' welcome.
