New pet nerf doesnt make any sense

  • Boon of Blackfathom no longer applies to pets.
    • Developer’s Note: We are essentially removing the ability for pets to get Boon of Blackfathom for now. Now that pets scale with stats, allowing them to get certain world buffs would effectively let them “double dip” on these effects and gain far more damage than intended. We’ll continue to review this as we move through the content phases and make adjustments to how world buffs interact with pets as needed.

They already added pet scaling, which means pets benefit from the Hunter getting buffed as well. and if the pet gets buffed on top of that, then they are essentially, double dipping off EVERY buff… priest stam, mark of the wild, blessing of might…

so why change the boon of all buffs? Hunters werent even that strong in PvE prior to the nerf. Letting the classic rogue and warriors take the top spots again (shaking up the meta amirite SoD?). If it’s a PvP thing well…
-Hunter pets already run at 30% increased movement speed when outdoors
-20 AP/SP is hardly anything
Was it the hit chance?? It still makes it way more of a PvE nerf than a PvP nerf even though again, there was no need for a hunter nerf in PvE.

If you guys are running some strict philosophy about not making changes that are PvE and PvP exclusive, then can you just say that please? and we can we remember that this phase at level 25 with incomplete classes is over in 3 weeks at most? Haven’t hunters had enough at this point?

At this point its clear youre trying to kill hunter pets and delegate hunters to their petless aimed shot / auto shot 20 year old playstyle again but why be so inconsistent and illogical with these nerfs…

don’t forget about the warlocks too…

There is no policy. The development team has malicious devious intent behind their changes. They wish to inflict generational trauma on hunter players after the 14th nerf. Whenever Aggrend’s wife tells him no at night he goes and takes it out on hunter players

pets are still effected by the buff on the hunter :expressionless: thanks to the ridiculous new idea of pets scaling with the hunter’s stats. there’s nothing to complain about.

if you’re saying pets shouldn’t be allowed to be buffed at all, well, that’s something I think we can all get behind

im saying at least be friggen consistent blizzard. pets double dip off every buff so dont use that as justification to remove the world buff from them.

literally if they just said “pets are overtuned, were seeing if we take the world buff away, if theyll fall back in line” it would stop so many questions from being raised

yes, no buffs for hunter pets at all

you’re the one who wanted consistency :expressionless:

how about lets just stop making dumb kneejerk nerfs to a 6 week phase at level 25 that could have massive implications later down the line when classes are actually online. with zero sensical justification to them

How in the big wide world can you get pet scaling and think it’s a nerf?

who said that??? did you read the post? obviously pet scaling is a buff, that’s been in since launch, the nerf is the removal of pets getting the boon

Incoming nerfs will be
Bm rune can’t stack with pet focus reg talent.
Pet scaling will be removed so that hunters can’t solo dungeons.
Flank strike deal less dmg in case hunters get epic 2h
Anything makes hunter good should be removed

you must have seen the 3k replies forum post about how “hunters should NEVER be top dps”

The change means that pets will scale far better into later levels. Pets still benefit from YOU having boon. The change just means they don’t benefit twice over.

thats exactly my point… again… go read the post… pets benefit from EVERY buff the hunter gets, ON TOP of buffs they receive themselves, meaning pets double dip on EVERY buff, so using that “double dip” excuse to remove the world buff doesnt make any sense…

I would guess this is only really relevant to WSG queues. Didn’t the boon go away if you dismissed your pet anyway?

EDIT:

Oh, if that’s the case then it doesn’t seem to make any sense for pets to both benefit from any buff the hunter gets and also get its own buffs (regardless of whether that’s MotW, Boon, or whatever).

:woman_shrugging:

“It makes sense, but it doesn’t make sense!”
Blizzard adjusting the game to work as intended is not a personal attack on you or any other player of a class.
The world buff is pretty potent, and pets receiving the benefit on top of the hunter receiving the benefit was making pets stronger than was intended.
They’re still extremely strong. I don’t understand what you’re complaining about. Hunter damage will continue to be extremely high for doing nothing besides right-clicking.

If you want to complain about hunters being keyholed into playing pet hunter, I can totally get behind that - but complaining about pets doing slightly less damage at the moment is just silly.

but thats how double dip scaling has always worked. A warlock Imp stamina buff will give a warrior more health when they already have a priest stamina buff on vs when they dont. thats double dipping and no one bats an eye

It’s the 25 spellpower part that added too much damage on lightning breath.
It turned out 25 is actually huge compared to the RAP to SP conversion pets get from our gear. So instead of reworking lightning breath formula they removed the buff.

I bet it was mostly a pvp change and we are still doing fine. It’s much better to have LB nerfed this way rather than balancing around a world buff.

So, are you saying that it’s the way it’s always worked, and that should be fine, but since they are now just removing it from hunter pets, and specifically only with Boon, because now hunter pets scale, then it’s a sort of strange way to cherry pick a “rule” that doesn’t apply to anything else in the game?

I think you said something about “read the post” above

Yeah, that… does anyone happen to have a link?
