New person to wow

Honestly if its his first time playing i feel like you guys shudda went 1-120 together.
Having that long leveling period helps you get a grasp on the game, your class, and the way your abilities work together.
He probably lacks a lot of fundamental understandings and it impacts his perception of the game.

But, Visions, World Quests, Dark Shore(he’d probably like this, as he doesnt really need to do anything. However he would feel like he’s doing something, and that hes part of some big epic battle.)
Also, watching other players in action would probably be good for him as well.
When he inevitably dies on the boss at the end of Dark Shore, consider telling him to stay dead so he can watch the experienced players and learn frm them.

I would suggest just letting him take a break until Shadow Lands comes out.
Then play through the new 1-50 leveling experience with him, as its going to be heavily updated to accomodate new players.

You don’t really have to gear up through dungeons until you want to push for 460+.

First thing you gotto do is guide him through the Nazjatar Quests. That should give him some good pieces of gear, and I believe a weapon as well.

You don’t need to fully complete the entire zone, but just do enough until your unlock the world quests in that zone and you should be good.

Next, you can always follow him into Warfronts and start on the Darkshore questline (there should be another gear upgrade there), and scan your map for world quests that offer gear. This should start pushing him to 360-380+ and that should get him comfortable to start on the legendary cloak questline.

Unfortunately BfA isn’t the most new player friendly expac. I get that he’s probably bombarded with multiple questlines and doesn’t know which one to focus on right now.

Maybe ask him what he actually finds fun in the game and do that? I hate dungeons as well and nothing can get me to like them.

Thanks for all the help guys! Unfortunately I ran out of likes so here :heart::heart:

I especially totally forgot about warfronts haha it’s been so long

Also we haven’t done any m+ yet, although I could probably carry him through a 15… we’re just doing m0

Don’t you imagine that is how you would handle things if dungeons were real? I mean avoiding a fight is always the best way to survive one.

Don’t skip everything and drop him immediately into end game. Make new characters, go through the quest lines and dungeons together slowly, and without heirlooms or exp buffs in general.

He has no actual connection to his character. You just gave him a fully leveled character and through him into max-level/endgame content.

Also, I’d wait until SL to do this because it’s going to be more coherent.

Hi guys!
We’ve been grinding quests, and he seems to be enjoying himself more! Although he did say he finds questing boring lol. But he seems to be more familiar with his char and his rotation, which I think is what he likes about it. Oh I also forgot to mention, I took your guys’ advice and bought him some 400 gear on the ah, which I also think made him like the game a bit more because he isn’t as squishy and is doing better damage. I checked his gear and he was using a lvl 13 letter opener as his weapon lmao.
Ofc most of this gear is temporary until we get better gear for him. But he did actually get some good gear through the cloak quest line.

But anyways, we unlocked wq’s for his char went to naz, then (as you probably already know) did the cloak line. Rn were doing dailies to get him some vessels for visions to upgrade his cloak. He hates dailies lmao.

I know we can farm echoes to buy cores too, but I think those are better saved for corruption.

Anyways, now that we’re here any other ideas on gearing ?

We can do world quests, and maybe raid?
Ofc m+, but he doesn’t like that really so I’ve been avoiding it. How is pvp gear now a days?

I need to get him some better trinkets, anyone know good trinkets for prot warrs?
