New PC Requirements for SL

Hello,

I was surprised to see the new pc requirements for SL. WOW has always been a game than ran on anything, but the new reqs for SL are impressive. How is everyone handling them? Are your PCs ready?

Just so everyone knows what’s being discussed, here are the minimum requirements for Shadowlands on PC:

  • Windows 7 64-bit
  • Intel Core i5-3450 / AMD FX 8300
  • GeForce GTX 760 / Radeon RX 560 / Intel UHD 630
  • DirectX 11-compatible GPU with 2 GB VRAM
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 100 GB SSD or HDD
  • Broadband internet connection
  • Keyboard and mouse
  • 1024 x 768 minimum resolution

I mean those are components from 7-8 years ago.

Getting equivalent hardware these days isn’t expensive.

Please tell me you do something more than game on that. Because if you don’t you went a bit overkill.

Which is fine if it makes you happy, just saying.

I always spend waaaaaaaay more than I should on computers but I also do a lot of graphic design and video editing and stuff.

oh i’m doing a course on animation and game design so i was told to get this card if they were available which they were so yeah i’m doing that in my down time which is a lot since nothing new has been added to pre patch yet.

I spent way more than I needed 10 years ago and look at me. Easily still using the same equipment.

Its paid off lol.

You are all correct, the minimum requirements are fairly reasonable, I was thinking more of the “recommended” especially in the video card dept:

NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080 8 GB or AMD Radeon™ RX Vega 64 8 GB or better

I never have adhered to the minimum specs. But as stated, technology always moves forward.

Bound to change eventually.

Can’t go on for fifteen years and still be a game your dad’s toaster will run smoothly.

Yup. Every setting at ultra and runs smooth as churned butter.

I’m running a 980TI and it’s running great. My husband also likes to fiddle with computer upgrades, so I imagine he’ll be wanting the newer gen stuff pretty soon. Can’t complain though. I get to play pretty much any game I want, and it looks good. That’s all i care about.

i have a 180 dollar gpu i bought off amazon,

gtx 1660

works fine with all current and upcoming games great

Yep. My PC is handling Shadowlands fine.

They recently did some under the hood graphics fixes recently on the Beta, as Ardenweald was murdering framerates as did Bastion in some places.

I’m convinced anyone’s potato can handle Revendreth or Maldraxxus, which are less graphically demanding zones.

Playing on a 5y.o. pc I built

Asus H170 pro gaming MB
i5 6500 3.2 gig
DDR4 2133 16 gb
Evga GTX 1660 SC Ultra gaming (recent upgrade from GTX960)
500 gig ssd
500 gig hhd
Evga 500 Bronze psu and game runs fine .

The only issue I have is I also play via wifi ( No empty slots in router and my pc is in a different room)

I finally just dropped a 1tb SSD into my rig. You haven’t lived till you load into Dalaran in less than 5 seconds.
