New PC fuzzy graphics on dx12

Hi all I got a new PC, 4060ti and 9950x and 16gb ram- game runs amazing but graphics were fuzzy so I changed to dx11 and looked perfect but I get weird fps issues in raid.
It’s fine on dx12 but everything is slightly fuzzy like AA isn’t doing its job?

Tried things in Nvidia control panel and GeForce experience and messed with all settings in game

I notice mainly on character names, I can’t read them well at all, only from short distances.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Check your render scale setting and make sure it’s set to 100% and also maybe check the VRS(variable rate shading) setting and try turning it off if it’s on.

Also, what type of antialiasing are you using? You might have it on FXAA. Try image based - CMAA 2 (I really don’t recommend MSAA with WoW, seeing how it has been notorious for causing visual artifacts and bugs over the years)

Render scale was 100%! I tried 98 and while it made things less fuzzy it didn’t look right. Vrs was off and I went through all the anti aliasing modes and would restart wow to make sure they took effect. When I switch to dx11 it instantly looks normal/correct but would get crazy fps drops during court/queen Web effects

In dornogol with dx12 I get like 300 fps and with dx11 I get like 90, I should be on dx12 right? That’s what it was by default

Are you sure there aren’t any external apps that might be messing with the appearance of things? Apps like reshade or the Nvidia one(freestyle is the name I think?) might be only getting triggered with the DX12 API (well the frame presentation method more specifically, like flip).

You might also want to check your Nvidia settings. Reset the global settings to default by clicking the restore button below the list in the manage 3d settings section. Reboot the PC after that since some of the settings won’t change until that happens. Then, in the program settings tab of that, find wow.exe and do the same. If it’s not in the list, then you’ll need to manually add it. Make sure it’s wow.exe and not World of Warcraft Launcher.exe

Worst comes to worst, you’ll need to do a DDU reinstall of the drivers. It’s pinned and recommended by the Nvidia staff themselves: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/1001/wagnard-tools-ddugmptdr-manipulator-new-cpu-core-a/

I will try that this evening! Thank you very much for the help I appreciate it!

I reset the global settings, restarted pc and also restored the wow.exe settings in nvidia control panel. I also made sure Geforce Experience wasn’t interfering at all-

same issue, everything looks slightly fuzzy/blurry. I didn’t really notice exactly what I was seeing until i noticed i could barely read people’s names until very close.

I’ve tried all types of AA and reloaded to make sure it took effect

Find a reliable spot somewhere with NPCs that have names above their heads and take a screenshot with it on DX12 and DX11 (without moving the camera between changes and position things so that it makes the DX12 issue stand out more). Upload them to imgur.com and then paste the links here. With the link selected, press ctrl+e or click the </> option in the format options so that the text looks like this

I just took a screenshot of each and they look the same unfortunately. I think when i switched to Dx11 it looked more visually appealing which is where I got that idea from, but from a distance all names are having the same issue regardless of Dx11 or Dx12.

Up close it looks normal/crisp but the further away I get the worse it looks.

I went into raid after second guessing myself and immediately thought “No, something is not right” after seeing people’s names.

The pc is new and driver was installed 3 days ago, is that something I should mess with?

It sort of seems like AA just doesn’t work at distance if that makes sense

Sometimes antialiasing can affect the visual clarity.

I didn’t see it here so make sure the game and the settings in Nvidia and windows are set to native resolution. My laptop with a 4060 is fuzzy in dx 12 if it’s not set to native . but it’s perfectly clear in the x11
