Good afternoon all, hope you are well. I am looking for a new pre-built PC for shadowlands. My budget is 700-800 british pounds (not including the monitor) I noticed from other threads that new CPUs and GPUs will be launched sometime this year.
- Do you know when they will be released? Is it a long wait?
- Approx how much cost savings will I make if I wait?
- Does anyone have a monitor they recommend for a PC within the above mentioned budget? Less than 200 british pounds would be great. I mostly play WoW so a high FPS is not needed.
Thank you and take care.
GPUs paper launch probably within 30 days.
Realistically, supply will be limited and prices might reflect that.
CPUs - I’d say AMD will be closer to winter.
Hi Lilybugg,
Thank you for your reply. I won’t be looking to get the latest stuff but was wondering if previous versions of the GPU and CPU will be significantly cheaper and worth the wait.
Thank you for your reply Salhezar

AMD chips might get a discount around Black Friday, however, GPUs seem to never experience this phenomenon.
Intel CPUs rarely drop in price enough to make them worth it.
For example, i9-9900k was $499, and while can be found now for around $399, still isn’t a good deal given an i7-10700k costs the same but is superior in thermals.
The issue isn’t really saving money, it’s just losing out on opportunities to get better hardware.
Good morning Salhezar,
I wanted to personally reply to your message above but there was a forum error saying I have to wait for someone to respond first.
Thank you for your reply. I think I will just proceed with getting a new pre-built PC. I have sourced a few options online (as mentioned above). Which would you recommend.
Thank you and have a great day!

If I had to choose solely between the above options, I’d choose:
Option 2: £890
- AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6GHz
- 16GB DDR4 3200MHz (2x8, hopefully)
- Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB
- 480GB Adata SU630 SATA SSD
- Gigabyte B450M DS3H
- Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 ARGB
- 650 W 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply
- Windows 10
That said, I would seriously urge you to consider assembling your own. Even if you don’t save much money, you can ensure quality and appropriate parts are used.
Dear Salhezar,
Thank you for your reply!
I will consider looking at how to build the PC based on the parts picked in Option 2.
Sorry to bother you but do you have any recommendation for a monitor (budget £200) that will run smoothly with the Option 2?
Thank you in advance.

I don’t know what’s available in your area, but you could check out reddit /buildapc and Linus tech tips forums for more suggestions
okay I will !!! Thank you

I would also go with option 2 although it should probably be 40 pounds more than option 1 so there is some cost savings in there they are not mentioning. The thing to remember about pre-built systems is that the companies aim for a price-point (generally speaking). So option 1 is not going to be 790 pounds in six to eight weeks but rather once the parts are sold out for option 1, they will use new parts for a new 850 pound build.

Option 2 like others suggested.
For a monitor something that’s like 144hz (60hz is common), 1-4ms and the resolution you want to play it 1080p or 1440p.
