Blood Ties by Golden will be dropping the 18th. A fun family adventure killing demons and patching a family back together while discovering more about themselves.
Place your bets now! What are the worst Goldenisms can we expect from this one? Can we beat Light undead and brittle hands? Will Arator out Anduin Anduin? Did the Blood Elves betray the Alliance? Tune in next time for the release of the next Golden novel!
Eh, I’ll just read the cliff notes. I haven’t been interested in reading any of the novels since War Crimes. I’m especially just not interested in any of the main characters being featured in this one.
Knowing the author, Arator is just going to be a copy of Anduin, just with more references to the shape of his ears.
“…Arator turned his head at once, his sharpened ears listening carefully…”
“…he bowed his head to Jaina, and his hair fell loose, exposing his pointed ears and half-elven heritage…”
“…Arator flinched as his mother swiftly grabbed him by the tip of his ear, keeping him in place while she scolded him…”
But otherwise, it’s going to be Half-Elf Anduin with a troubled Windrunner mother. Expect him to be soft on the subject of his Aunt Sylvanas, and completely ignore his other Aunt Vereesa’s past actions.
That Arator piece just screams “expansion hero” and good lord is that not what Midnight needs. I guess his armor is appreciably more Thalassian than the blue and argent crusader cosplay I figured he’d be rocking.
The cover makes it look like we’ll get a peek at modern Outland. Other than the draenei heritage quest, we really haven’t revisited that setting at all.
I got the same impression, and it was not a happy revelation. Half expecting the stupid Child of Light and Shadow thread from Illidan/Legion to rear its groan inducing head again.
I think Draenei will make a good showing due to the Sunwell, but doubtful as an A-lister like Alleria or Anduin. And to be brutally honest, that is a good thing for Draenei. “A-Lister” is shorthand for “We are going to ignore the character as written and reimagine them as another hokey, bland, copy-paste.”
