TLDR of Spirit Breaker: Huge Physical Hit (~500k on +15 with no cooldowns) from an unavoidable lieutenant (if you don’t kill him at the pillar in question, he will appear during the final boss fight), that cannot be blocked. On a 10 second cooldown. In every single dungeon on +10 or higher.
…Good grief, what the heck is this? This is a tactical Prot warrior nuke. I was just psyching myself up to go hard into M+ and start to tank some keys to help my guildies out, when 8.3 hits, too. I guess that’s not happening any time soon. I personally would say at least make it so blocks are only, say 25% effective or something, geez.
Also: right after they gave armor and block the Nerf bat, really?
May be u didn’t read the article. It can be Staggered which means monks is going to be meta tank again only because of this Tank Buster ( for High Keys). Every 10 Sec it will try to one shot you. If you are not a Monk, Only two ways you can avoid it . LOS and Run Away 20 Yds. Both of them are not a good strategy. In Atal Dazar/Sethralis/Mechagon Junkyard/Underrot, There isn’t so much good spot to LOS. If blizzard don’t nerf it, it’s going to create problem for every other Tanks because at the beginning Tanks will take increased damage due to K value. At 15, this Tank Buster will surely One Shot Tank if it doesn’t have Mitigation up.
You’ll be out of phase from the rest of the dungeon so you can take it somewhere you can LOS pretty easy. Kiting it to the spot you want the portal could even be part of the survival strategy. Still it seems inappropriate, any tank not able to survive a shot or two becomes pretty high risk.
I think Blizz will tune it. and if it stays like this pug tanking will be a cancer. And when a monk can Stagger it, why people should take risk of taking other tank ( in +15 Keys).
I agree. It feels off. I could be wrong but I just don’t think this is their intent.
I dunno, I haven’t played the affix yet. Its possible kiting and LOSing might be easier than we think and that’s just the play. Other tanks might prove much better for more difficult minibosses. We’ll just have to see I guess.
You heard it here first boys. The 1k IO pally who doesn’t come close to doing +15s figured out the “META” tank for 15+ keys. Time to reroll monk for the INSTANT INVITE !!!
Yeah blizzard said the same thing about the void emissary, and then majority of her positions are in places that melee can not LoS her.
Honestly though, it is kinda BS that this “tank buster” can be staggered by monks but not blocked by warriors / paladins, and it also ignores things like armor as well. I can see blizzard fixing it so non-monk active mitigation actually does count, but at the same time I don’t see it happening.
Especially after Star Augur back in Legion. That fight was not fun as a prot warrior.
This isn’t particularly relevant to this miniboss because the range is pretty small (20 yds), you can move it, and you are out of phase with the rest of the dungeon when fighting it.
Doesn’t seem too bad. 500k physical damage, which means around 250-300k against a prot warrior’s armor, which is further reduced about Ignore Pain to about ~220k. This is on top of the simple fact health pools are going to be close to 700k for a tank by the time you’re doing 15’s next patch.
Ah yes an affix which is basically completely physical damage and Warriors being touted as the first S Tier tank of the expansion and a unanimous go to for anyone seriously pushing keys hard is awful.
