Yep found out a long time ago how US players get screwed. Might as well call it slave player treatment. My bestie from Singapore that played Vanilla wow said new accts and players there had a starter armor set and 1200 gold, otherwise nobody would’ve played it you paid for a game and started with nothing God Bless 'Murica
Are you gonna say the same thing to people outside of US about Mt.Dew promotion lol… and what extra are you paying the $15 / month 20 years old sub price ?
I’ll just stay glad that I’m not paying Aus sub pricing yet here in Canada. They tend to rip us off over here pretty bad, just a matter of time.
China WoW has always been different. Unlike WoW everywhere else, Chinese WoW is licenced to a local company and subject to its own particular laws and regulations.
Ok so what law in the US would they be violating by being equal across the board in what they offer in-game? I have yet to see any of my EU WoW guild mates being contacted by their local law enforcement for using Mt. Dew promotional codes there or vice versa when I have been hooked up with promos offered outside the US , stop it
It’s nothing to do with US laws. WoW is operated in China by a different company who has local control over the game’s intellectual property, and they choose to handle it different than the way it’s used in regions where Blizzard has exclusive control.
That’s nice but again I have friends thru WoW internationally that hook me up with codes and they have NEVER were contacted by Blizzard or law enforcement for sharing codes. You do have to register to receive the codes so I’m sure they are accountable as far as who gets the codes to whom actually uses them, under the same intellectual property use agreement. That’s why theres nothing wrong or illegal about sharing the codes because regardless of what language code is used for the user interface the game is coded the same regardless, THATS why the Mt. Dew codes work on the EU servers, regardless of the company running the servers they all agree to the game updates from Blizzard that contains the same general coding for the game
What are you talking about? This has nothing to do with Mountain Dew codes. We’re talking about why Chinese WoW has different rules than the rest of WoW. I don’t know what you’re on about.
It’s has to do with WoW being a franchise and the rules regarding that is “what I’m on about…”
Those codes were handled outside of China. China has its own rules, laws, business practices and regulations at home. I’m with Simplyred on this one. What are you talking about? lol
Side note, there were no laws broken by passing codes out from the US. They also weren’t region locked so that was likely by design.
Not a law. A contract. With Netease. Why do you think they threw a tantrum a few years ago?
Tradeoff is you need to live in China.
Ok. Let’s make it easier to understand.
The non US guys can’t get the code by buying MtDew, due to Canadian laws, and MtDew not being sold (everywhere and by the company) in EU. The thing is, last time I looked at a map, Canada is right above the US, and prez orange zombie wants it the 52th state. Way to feel cheated. Do you think EU, Canada, Australasia, South America, feel “international” ?
The guys in China can’t get the MtDew code at all. It’s not a matter of regulations per se, and MtDew is horrible anyway. The client just doesn’t allow it.
Now, EU is at least 3 times more players than US, and so much better at the game. Wonder how Irvine would be bombed if a EU brand - because Blizzard just agrees to promotions - dared offer a EU only thing. Of course they wouldn’t. Because unlike MtDew, our firms sell in the US. Tell me again about “franchise”. And then, imagine a Canadian brand doing a Canadian only promo. Lol. Burning of the White House, again.
Yeah, tell me again about “international” “franchise”. We don’t get enough good old laughing around here.
Eh. They are living in China, let them have a bone.
