I have played wow for almost 20 years and it essentially part of my life with the memories I have created and how invested into the lore I am but over the past 20 years, life has gotten busy and with a wife and 3 kids now. i do not have the time I would like to invest in the game. i still play today but mainly alone or with a couple friends but even we don’t have time to pug mythics or even normal raids.
I understand with the nature world of Warcraft was created upon, but I would play this new mode almost all the time. I wondered how people would like a mode that was more focused on a more single player PvE experience. A mode where you would have NPCs as party members, but say these NPCs are other toons you have to create, level, and gear. When running instances or raids, you can distribute the gear to your other toons and have a bit of management involved. But all of this can be done at your own pace. Maybe you can invite a couple of friends if it’s possible.
I was even thinking this mode progression could be locked with the story. So to move onto the next expansion, you would need to complete the previous expansion and content patches. All quests can be completed on one toon through the warband feature.
I understand there would be a server demand of some sort but even if zones had to have a loading screen, I would be fine with it. I don’t believe blizzard would ever let a client side server for this mode which I understand.
Do I think this would ever happen? probably not but I do get excited at the idea and maybe enough people will agree with me.
I sense that’s what direction they’ve been moving in with the Warband system and the advances in NPC bot AI that we’ve seen with the various kinds of followers, companions, and bots over the last several years. Follower dungeons, comp stomps, companion delves, and so on.
I don’t have a strong opinion on this one way or the other, but if you’d like to see more of it, I’d say try to keep engaging with that sort of content, provide feedback, and keep chattering about what you like and why you like it.
Not that it really matters, but if you ever want to change characters, click on the yearbook picture at the top right of the browser window, and go to the bottom of the dropdown. Then scroll through and find the character you want to use.
It might be broken on some browsers at the moment, because it hasn’t let me change toons recently.
I think something like that would be a natural evolution of follower dungeons and Warbands. They even have story mode raids with all NPCs and you (just without any difficulty). They’ve also tried having a “bodyguard” in outdoor PvE content in Warlord’s of Draenor. They could bring something like that back but using an AI controlled warband character.
Yes but I’d like the npcs to be my own alts, or perhaps I could create the whole group and switch between them at will (like maybe I swap to healer for the healing check and dps for the dps check and tank for the cc check or to do a big pull)
