New Microsoft game "Avowed" being put onto Battlenet?

Do you think perhaps this might be the way of the future - more Microsoft games being added to the bnet?

Interesting move, not sure exactly what it might mean or whether its any particular issue.

I’d prefer to grab it through bnet if it were something I wanted honestly

It does kind of throw away the whole identify from the Battle.net app, if we’re now doing non Activision games.

But as a whole, I like battle.net and wouldn’t mind seeing a big library.

It’s so they can deny refunds. Steam does no questions asked refunds as long as it’s within 2 weeks or purchase or 2 hours of playtime, but non Blizzard games on Battlenet nets you a response of “Not our game, not our problem. Sorry. :)”

They still have the game on steam, they’re just putting it there to escape the payment to steam

Wouldn’t be the first time. We had bunji games with destiny before so doesn’t really change anything.

Hope they put as many Microsoft games as possible there.

I wont play it personally, but Im all for giving more options for those who will

Well also Steam takes like 30% of the cut no…? So why wouldn’t you wanna release it on Bnet lmao

That worked out great for Destiny 2.

Meh. Lost interest in Avowed when they said there wasn’t going to be any kind of romance options.

There will most likely be at minimum some overlap with people who play WoW/DIV, so putting it in front of that potential audience doesn’t hurt.

It encourages the battle.net install base to look at Gamepass.

MS could be looking to capture as many first party sales instead of people going through Steam or GoG, or this could be the first move to increase the footprint of Battle.net as a storefront to try and take some of that market share from Steam.

I mean, ms has their own storefront, probably just trying to put things in bnet that might appeal to blizzard players

The launcher seems like a really good infrastructure with nothing really on it. I would be ok with more games on it. Maybe Microsoft will adopt it as their launcher.

I’m more worried it won’t be play anywhere if it’s only on Battlenet and not the MSoft store

The only way I see that happening is if battlenet is the launcher for the MS store or Xbox, whatever it all eventually becomes.

They’ve been putting activision games on there for ages. So it doesn’t surprise me that ms games would join them now.

Problem with that is the wow token. When Destiny 2 became available for purchase for in-game wow gold the wow token shot up and has never even come close to it’s original value. This could be good or bad as it lets people who might not have jobs play wow to earn gold to buy games but don’t generally see that as a good thing in the long run.

It will be the first.
Destiny 2 was published by Activision.

Once they started putting Activision games on there as opposed to only Blizz games, it went out the window.
