I know of the memorial after a fight against the void, but what else?

When Alexondros asks why he wasn’t sent to the Kyrians and the Paragon responds that Void and Light are trifling powers (sic?) and aren’t relevant in the Shadowlands let alone Bastion

In all fairness, the Bastion teaser video is all about how the incredible arrogance of the Kyrians blinds them to the truth.

Alexandros Mograine: But why was I not chosen? Wass my faith in the Light not strong enough? Was my soul tainted from the moment I rose into undeath?
Xandria: Light, Void… such trifling powers have no purchase here. The Arbiter sent you to Maldraxxus for a reason. One we shall attempt to discern.

Doesn’t this put a hole in the Uther’s soul being divided theory? Unless Kyrian’s underestimate the light.

I mean, they do, but what Xandria is saying is that Bastion isn’t a Light Realm. Alexandros thinks Bastion is The Light Afterlife.

Case in point: Venthyr can walk around Bastion without turning crispy. The brightness isn’t from any Light™.

But imo the whole Uther Split thing was the deal Light and Death made than got the Nzoth/Ilgy stressed.

Idk. I will suggest a notion:

The Venthyr, the Arbiter… it comes down to purchase. Claim.

I do not think it is as cut and dry as all that. I think if the Light has purchase, it can stake a claim. Perhaps Uther was saved by the light, and capable of being a sort of focus for it. Perhaps the Venthyr despise the light and the void because those forces do not fall for the charade of the Shadowlands.

I mean, dogma seems to be the enemy.

I think undeath taints a soul in a way where it can’t go to the Light upon death. So it’s sent to the Shadowlands instead. Uther wasn’t made undead but he was killed by the leader of them. It might also be that you need to have a full soul to go there.

It seems we now know why Sylvanas was sent to the Maw: She invented the Blight which upset the Balance of power without doing anything to aid Death(practicing Necromancy like Zill’kee the World Reaper, Arthas and Lord Valthalak did) or fight against the Light(like Sharth Voldoun), Fel or Void(like Navi DeRolan).

Sylvanas was a threat that the Venthyr tossed into the Maw automatically. Unfortunately she ended up escaping due to the Valkyr and joined Sire Denathrius’s Boss which changed the whole balance of power even further!

This is actually an extremely good explanation.

Considering that the guy who invented the mana bomb was only saved from a direct maw ticket because he was also (unknowingly) against the Naaru.
Unfurtunately Blizzard is no longer consitent with its storytelling and thus the reason might just be “because”. ’
But I really like that connection.

Especially since it would also explain that Sylvans soul was damned because of her OWN deeds, not because of someone elses.

I like this idea, but the trouble with the Blight being the reason Sylvanas was sent to the Maw is that the Blight was originally designed to kill Scourge and keep them dead, which would in theory make the use of it helpful to the Shadowlands, or at least the Arbiter. If the Scourge are a problem because they are using power borrowed from the Maw and are pulling souls out of their rightful places in the Shadowlands, then developing a weapon to destroy the Scourge should earn Sylvanas favor with the Arbiter. Yes, the Blight can also be used to kill the living, but the primary reason it’s designed to be so horrible is so that it is effective against the undead as well, which is why the Forsaken have to use protective equipment to handle it. There are plenty of weapons of mass destruction in the Warcraft universe that can be used against the living, but not many that can be used against the undead.

The Scourge is Necromancy.

https://wow.gamepedia.com/Lord_Valthalak_(sinstone) Makes it clear that knowledge of the veil and manipulation of the dead makes Souls otherwise irredeemable primed for redemption.

Sylvanas mentally noted to herself that the Blight was intended to wipe out Humanity in the Arthas Novel not just the Scourge.

A weapon that harms the Undead(of any sort) is something that threatens the Shadowlands while knowledge on raising the Shadowlands aids it.

Sylvanas probably only gained value to the Shadowlands when the Valkyr rescued her from the Maw unfortunately that meant the Jailer gained notice of her as well and decided to strike a bargain with her.

If it wasn’t for the Jailer’s bargain her death after the last Valkyr died would have sent her to Revendreth due to her knowledge of Valkyr and raising the dead…

I thought all undead went to the maw or something, unless they retconned it already. Remember in Darkshore there was something like that?

Necromancy isn’t the same as Maw powers, as the other covenants are able to utilize necromancy on their own. Lord Valthalak studied necromancy, but wasn’t aligned with the Scourge. The Scourge utilizes necromancy, but they’re led by agents using the power of the Maw. The Bastion short seems to indicate that agents of the Maw outside of the Maw is a very bad thing, necromancy or otherwise. Therefore, it would seem to be in the interest of the non-Maw covenants and the Arbiter to stop agents of the Maw. Sylvanas was obsessed with destroying Arthas and the Scourge, and she’s an experienced military leader, so that would make her useful to at least Maldraxxus if nothing else.

Everyone, undead or otherwise, is going to the Maw right now and has been since some point in time before the Burning of Teldrassil, because the ordering of the Shadowlands is not functioning as it should. We see several characters in the Shadowlands who used to be undead and are not in the Maw.

The Kyrian Devos is the only one who went into a panic over it(the Archon ignored it). Neither the Arbiter nor her Voice sent any message to Maldraxxus resolve the matter of Frostmourne.

Furthermore https://wow.gamepedia.com/Prophet_Kheva_(sinstone) indicates that the Venthyr and Arbiter are well aware of the Jailer’s agents the Dreadlords are active even if the Kyrians are not.

Why does the Archon and the Arbiter ignore the threat posed by Maw Magics? The Venthyr ignoring them is understandable since Sire Denathrius is working for the Jailer yet the Archon and Arbiter don’t take the Maw Magics seriously.

To be fair, I’m not sure that the Archon is ignoring the threat, as it may just be that she doesn’t want Devos specifically to investigate it (dealing with threats is the job of the Necrolords, not the Kyrian, after all). Of course, Devos doesn’t see it that way. I do think Devos’ horror indicates that as far as she knows mortals aren’t supposed to have access to that power because of the the Jailer being sealed away, and she is a very high-ranking Kyrian, so I assume that her view is not unique to her. I also wouldn’t be surprised if we dig deeper into the Archon and her reaction to Frostmourne later in the story. As for the Arbiter, I don’t know enough about her to really know what her opinion on the matter would be.

Hey yall, the sinstones were updated.

  • Prophet Kheva no longer mentions “Unseen Guests”
  • Kil’brek is no longer a mantid
  • Lord Valthalak was replaced by Theolen Krastinov
  • Janus no longer mentions Deathwing

(Observation): At the least, Maldraxxus and Revendreth dislike the Light. I suppose that gives them something in common with the Mag’har. I don’t know of any specific lore saying that Ardenweald and Bastion hate the Light or Void, but I do know the Kyrians repelled a massive Void invasion at one point.

Archetus the Mad Designer’s Sinstone mentions the Death Realm of Craftenium… Interesting… Wonder what it looks like… Apparently Archetus’s sadism was labeled Pride.

Revendreth’s cure for Sadism is ripping the Pride out of the Sadist…
