New latency -- Blizzard IP failing

Jambrix,
First, thank you for the clarification regarding “green” and “blue” posts. I apologize for incorrectly assuming that green posts were from Blizzard proper. I guess the good news is I haven’t really had to post much in the last 15 years… so I’ll need to chalk it up to forum ignorance.

To your question around my troubleshooting efforts, using your Disconnection Guide, let me see if I can clarify what I’ve attempted. Please note that I’m still getting the errors this evening.

  • I have followed all of your suggestions for resetting my WoW user interface.
  • I have reset all network devices, which includes my Xfinity modem, my D-Link AC3200 router (to which my desktop machine is hard wired), and my local machine.
  • I have run [ /ipconfig renew ] and [ /ipconfig flushDNS ] multiple times in the last 48 hours.
  • My Windows 10 (64-bit) is fully updated… along with the drivers used for my EVGA motherboard and GeForce RTX 2060 GPU.
  • I am not using a wireless connection, so I don’t need to optimize my wireless connection.
  • I have attempted troubleshooting the game with all other applications, subroutines, and MS services disabled.
  • I have disabled all firewalls (both from the OS and from Norton Security Online)
  • I have added Port Forwarding rules for TCP/UDP for all ports identified as required for WoW.
  • I do not run a proxy.
  • I have run full security scans on all connected drives.
  • I have even attempted to run the game with Norton completely removed from my machine.
  • My Xfinity and D-Link hardware are both using the newest version of their firmware.

I am open to any other feedback you may have; I can no longer raid or be seen by other players as reliable given the instability which I’m not experiencing in your platform. Please advise.

Zenathar

Try a different Ethernet cable. On cable the first hop to the router should be showing 0ms - you’re average is 12ms. Why I assumed you were on wireless.

Also try direct to the Xfinity modem - bypass the router.

Hey again Zenathar,

My apologies for the late reply, but thank you very much for the additional info. Are you still experiencing these disconnections? If so, were you able to try what Tratt suggested previously?

A post was split to a new topic: Pouquinho’s latency thread

Yesterday and today there were several people in my guild that had such severe lag issues, they couldn’t play. (everyone who was logged in but one, who was in a different zone). This isn’t a user problem clearly. Why is it that every time this happens blizzard refuses to accept blame for this?

Yeah, the lag was super bad today for me. I was out questing and the game stopped updating where my party member was, for half an hour we had to use discord to coordinate ourselves cause I couldnt see her. Her giblin follower I could see, but not her.

There was a lot of loot lag and npc lag reported yesterday and the previous day. If you are still having issues - especially disconnects you would want to start your own thread. Include a WinMTR report.

The instructions are on this Blizzard Support page:

Once you have the tool open enter the IP number for the server group you play on in the WinMTR box then hit start.

137.221.105.2 West Coast
24.105.62.129 Chicago - Central
103.4.115.248 Australia

(include periods)

Leave it run for 5 minutes or so. Doesn’t matter if you are playing or not. Then use the button that copies Text to your clipboard. Paste that on your thread here.

*You may need to alter or remove any URL addresses to paste on forum. You could also place the test results in a code block:

Open chat box - paste test then right click - “select all”. Should highlight everything. Then press the preformatted text button along top of chat box. Looks like this </>.
