New laptop Poor Performance for Specs

This is my New Laptop; ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX502GW 15.6" 240Hz Gaming Laptop i7 16GB 1TB RTX2070

Specific Specs:
Display: 15.6" Full HD, 240Hz, IPS-Level, G-Sync
Processor: Intel Core i7-9750H Processor 2.6/4.5 GHz
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070, 8GB GDDR6
Memory: DDR4 16GB

This thing on WoW at Medium to High graphics with AA turned off (#6 preset) runs at 80 fps - with VERY frequent drops to 40 fps and spends 30% of its time in 50 fps region.

As you can understand, a AUD$3000 laptop doing this is insanely irritating - And i’m regretting this purchase so much.
When I first got it - it ran Overwatch at max settings at around 120 fps - now it does 60fps with frequent drops at Medium settings.

I’ve been playing classic WoW - and I was kind of hoping that Classic WoW changes hardware settings since it is an older version of the game - but I wouldn’t think so.

If anyone knows any solutions please help!
I’ve Updated drivers through the Geforce Experience App.

Your laptop is most likely not switching to the 2070 and stuck on the integrated gpu.
Switch your laptop to high performance or select high performance nvidia processor in the nvidia control panel > 3d setting > global

Thanks for the Quick Reply - I’ve set the dedicated GPU in the in-game settings as the RTX 2070 - and on the Nvidea Control Panel - But i’m still getting very frequent FPS drops.

Do the following if you aren’t already
Plugged in.
Set the battery profile to high performance

Monitor your temperature,
Laptops tend to throttle between 85c-100c

For testing purposes,
I would play the game without too many things running in the background.
This is to check if a software is causing fps issue.

Just wanted to let you know that I’ve got it working at around 120 fps now - I think it was using the Integrated - but when I changed it to prioritise the GPU - I must’ve needed to restart to finalise the settings.

Currently it is doing really well.

Thank you so much!
