Me again! Everyone that wants something added makes a “mega-thread” so I figured I can too! I see some of the data mined Alpha images and they look great!
Now would be a perfect time to make a new HD katana model! This is in addition to a revisit of some iconic classic gear updates too! Since I see some familiar faces in the images, it’s certainly not a stretch for some classic gear updates, including my beloved katana! please say it’s something that could happen Blizz!
The Vanilla katanas are too much like a realistic katana size, cartoon larger-than-life katanas are what sells.
Gotta agree with Keyturn. Have you seen what they did to something as simple as a cutlass for BfA? It looks like they hacked them out of a inch thick hunk of steel plate and put a Loony Tunes handle and guard on it.
I don’t trust Blizz to make a good HD Katana. It will end up a massive cartoonish mess.

I fully support the re-rendering of old assets to a higher quality digital blueprint.
Didn’t we just get some new katana models with those Ankoan-themed swords?
Why would we need Katanas? This isn’t feudal Japan and we have vastly superior longswords and spears. The katana is a terrible weapon.
Terrible against European spring steel, yes, but the katanas they were making back then we’re still fairly matched against other katanas.
I bet an old English Longsword or Arming Sword could shatter a katana in a single clash.
Katanas were made out of terrible grade steel. This is why they had to be folded so many times to push out the impurities. Warriors had to carry multiple of them due to how unreliable they were and how prone to breaking/dulling they were. They get absolutely destroyed against European weapons. This has been proven over and over again. Quit romanticizing katanas because anime and asian films tell you to.
That being said, they still look pretty cool and I think it would be nice to have some more modern models of them instead of the nintendo 64 quality ones we have.
Would be awesome if we can also choose where to sheath our weapons.

Sort of, but not exactly… The ankoan one is katana-esque and a 2H weapon. I thought it could mean they were doing some old gear updates. Like the new Teebu sword;
In the SL Alpha, it looks like there’s a new Rapier and an Estoc that someone else asked for…
