New Instance Limit in WoW Classic

Blizzard is at their best when they’re stealing ideas from other companies.

The issue is that all the other companies are terrible now, too, so all Blizzard has left to steal is utter failure.

When are they going to fix this fix? I’d like to farm a hoj and SGC.

Can you remove this stupid change already? I should not be locked after running one instance because I was farming the day before. I’m not a botter, I don’t have 3 other realms to swap to, can I actually play the stupid game?

At the very least this should be on a set daily reset at the same time every day, because it’s completely braindead that if I am instance farming one night I can’t play the game the next day

Still waiting for a blue response to explain why they haven’t reverted this useless change.

Probably because their fanboi cheer-leading squad has been in full force since they announced this and they’re ignoring a simple You-Tube search for the videos of WTF are you thinking Bliz.

That and Bliz has a bad habit of sticking to a mistake come hell or high water until people stop complaining.

Or in the case of the forums that require a sub to post on, their canceled accounts run out of previously paid time.

There’s a reason this forum is a fanboi echo chamber. It’s because Bliz made it that way by design. And their fanbois do a very good job of continuing to lose business for them. That’s been going on well since before WoW even launched.

“Despite changes and rigorous efforts to ban bots, bots remain prevalant. Due to continued requests by the playerbase, and how effective it has been at reducing gold sellers and bots, we are releasing the wow token in NA.” -Blizz, right before AQ comes out in order to capitalize on players needing flasks. Sorry, I mean, to fight bots.

Had a news article from some site show up on my suggested when I went to use google last night, sighting the 2006 April fools joke lol.

Probably because they’re not going to revert it?

At best you can expect some tweaks, like changing it to 90 run / 3 days or something.

This change is awful. Didn’t think I’d hit my limit, but I did it the first night I decided to farm Dire Maul.
What you should have done is not limit players to 30 instances, but rather have a flag be raised for GMs whenever someone does do more than 30 instances per hour, and then either perform a manual inspection of the player’s behavior, or focus any more resource intensive software you may have to evaluate that player (depending on however the backend of this game works)

The biggest problem is weekends. I’ll play late friday night, and then start playing early afternoon the next day and very quickly hit cap.
anti-bot software should never inhibit anything a player can be reasonable expected to do.

How has this not been overturned yet? Every single one of your savy players think this is a moronic change.

They would need to hire the GM’s first

Well I just hit my first wall…

Did some Mara that a guildie offered yesterday, about 5 runs, but since the XP wasn’t great compared to ZFK i decided to go back to ZFK.

Last night I farmed lvl 47-51 inside ZFK about 5 runs per level, so that 20 runs. Wasn’t too long and I never hit the 5 cap /hour. Slept late last night around 2AM.

This morning I work from home and figured I would do some more runs, after 5 runs I hit level 52. And now I realise I can get to 54 in ZFK as a mage.

Try to enter… you have entered too many instances try again later… It was 1PM the next day, so now I have to wait until this evening or maybe even tomorrow morning to start doing dungeons again…

I’m having the same issues you are and this is really stupid, at this point I’m stuck doing 15 dungeons a day now because my 15 from the night before keep making me wait 8-10 hours in between.

So I guess I have to wait a whole day for my dungeons to reset now. And work some kind of schedule around my play time?

THIS is what we’re paying you 15 dollars a month, to not be able to play as much as we want OR WHEN we want???

Why does boosting affect you?

I wish you had any idea how any of this works. Sadly you don’t and it really really shows in your posts.

Daily support of your show of solidarity with the daily complaint!

I’m calling THE INTERNET POLICE.

I understand there being a need to be at least somewhat vague about what is meant by “exploitative”, but I’m really having trouble understanding what exploit is being prevented.

  • Is exceeding some randomly determined XP/hr now deemed an exploit?
  • Is entering an instance to check if a rare is up, and resetting if it isn’t, an exploit?
  • Is a high level grouping with a bunch of low levels and getting them XP quickly from a dungeon an exploit?
  • Is a mage pulling most of a dungeon and using AoE to burn them down an exploit?
  • Is playing for 18 hours straight an exploit?
  • Or is it simply a completely arbitrary decision someone made that more than 30 dungeons in a 24-hour period is an exploit?
  • Maybe it’s something not even mentioned, like a guild full of players who all have 8-10 level 60s on the realm speed-running all 4 raids in one day.

The problem with this limit is it feels so arbitrary. The existing 5 per hour limit in a 16-hour period (assuming 8 hours of sleep) would have allowed 80 dungeons. This is less than half that. While someone who only plays a few hours per day won’t hit the cap, someone who plays 8+ hours on the weekend easily can, without any other logically identifiable “exploit”, if their preferred game-play is dungeons.

I’m mostly dismissing “automated gameplay” as it is barely impacted by this. Sure, the bots ran futilely at instance portals for a while, but I’m sure the bot writers have already adapted. A bot isn’t frustrated when it hits a limitation; only a player is. RMT gold-farmers can just swap realms as they hit caps. The fly-hack, which ideally is already broken, isn’t stopped by this.

There’s a good chance that if your “gameplay” was affected by this, it could be considered exploitative. Blizzard is always very PRECISE when it comes to fixes like this. And when they’re not, they usually have quick fix like the most recent hotfix.
