New Honor System is terrible for the world in Era

World pvp is a big reason people love playing Era, maybe the BIGGEST reason people have chosen to come back and play. The new honor system actively fights against this by…

  1. Not allowing you to rank in Wpvp (Atleast not seriously)
  2. Actively inviting you to town sit once you reach a certain rank (or avoid grouping for world pvp at all costs) in the event you get a DK.

I propose we massively buff the honor you get from wpvp and just flat out remove DK’s. This is a big stain on the world as it currently sits.

If you agree likeeee

im down with that.

Did the old system not have both these issues though? As far as I’m aware, WPvP was about fun and not ranking, regardless. However if it was a more sought after means of ranking, I still don’t see how the old system didn’t run into issues with both these points.

I don’t mind buffing the honour from WPvP that being said, sounds good.

I must not be understanding what the thread is about. How did the recent PVP changes affect this?

It didn’t - I’m assuming it’s motivated by alliance players needing to wpvp a lot more to reach cap since AV queues are so long and everyone is allergic to WSG and AB (and the honor is kind of bad in those bgs if you’re not pug stomping).

Also I don’t see an issue with DK, if you’re in a an enemy town (except for that stupid NPC in stone talon by the water which was my first DK as a noob leveller) and you get a DK that’s kind of on you. I get the whole its a pvp server thing but that doesn’t really mean that nowhere is safe (or just don’t aoe and kill DK npcs LOL).

Thats kind of my point, you dont want things that penalize wpvp, that penalizes it. You can’t get DK’s in BGs, so why in the open world? Anyways, the real point I’m making here is that it’s a dumb concept and since we just made sure you cant reach past rank 7 in wpvp. Why can’t wpvp be its own battleground? it already is.

There is also one in the broken syndicate town in East alerac mts… Found this out the hard way when leveling my rogue. Worse, almost forgot that he was there and nearly killed him on my Pala leveling in that zone. This NPC is mixed in the same building as a bunch of angry syndicate, a faction that ill point out you can’t do any quests for yet there is reputation for, kinda strange.

He is in the broke down inn, in one of the top rooms, is an orc; beware because its literally the stupides place to put a civilian.

It already is? I mean towns are pretty small percentage of the overall map. I would understand if civilians were scattered all over the place but that’s not really the case (apart from the two mentioned I suppose).

According to who?

WPvP was always about “Am I guaranteed to win if I fight this person right now?” People don’t engage in wpvp unless they think they are going to win.

I went after a T3 geared out the rear mage today on my blue geared pala because I was feeling kinda cocksure, I got real lucky. Pushed it further and went after an also willing T3 rogue, and I lost.

I went in knowing 107% I was very likely to get wrecked., I made some elementary errors vs that rogue, he simply played better, and the inverse was true to that mage.

I generally don’t bother anyone in bad gear, well unless I mistake them as a bot, then I just feel bad.

I think most PvP players are like me, they want a challenge, not an empty victory

I don’t think so. No one likes losing. Most people aren’t going to walk into a situation they feel they have even a moderate chance of losing.

Why tho? Its a game, and you can’t get better or learn new tricks by playing down for EZ mode… This is literally why I rerolled allies to I could VS better more PvP oriented players.

Well, when BC Classic came out, I leveled up a blood elf hunter on a pvp server.

Every time I came across an alliance player, the #1 though in my head was “If they weren’t here, I can do my quest faster” or “This person is taking ore that I want.” Followed with “If I attack them, am I going to win?”

This is on top of “If I lose, I have to walk back to my body, and then potentially be killed again, because I won’t be at full health when I rez.”

When losing means dying and wasting your time, not getting resources, or being killed some more or some combination there of, people are naturally going to pick battles they think they have a high chance of winning.

You’ve miscalculated, you forgot this is a video game. This item of information is why I am always having fun.

Amen.
You’re levelling it’s not a speed run hardcore world first race. You’re character won’t be deleted if you don’t level to x under y amount of time lol what happened to having fun lol :joy:

You’re missing my point.

Whether you are personally having fun or not is irrelevant. Time spent dead is time not accomplishing anything. Most people don’t have a ton of time to play every day. So most people aren’t going to willingly walk into a pvp fight they know they are likely to lose.

Who thinks that walking back to your corpse after dying is fun. I’ve had fun doing things that lead me to dying in the game, never once been like “Sure is fun walking back to my corpse.”

Having fun is the single and only point of playing a video game. Anything outside of that is either Work or you’re mind is broken by the corrupting powers.

It’s amazing how many people forget this.

Literally talking about YOU specifically. Whether YOU are having fun, is irrelevant to how other people are going to approach things.

I think most era pvp players see pvp as the #1 reason to play the game, everything else being secondary.

The only way to get better at pvp is to lose. If you pick fights that you only win you aren’t going to get better at your class. A lot of victories in era pvp are on the margins and any mistake means a loss.

After making most of the mistakes a few times, then you start to win more and more encounters.

Sure if you are playing a class you have played many times, on a fresh server (where racing to 60 matters), then perhaps you would avoid more pvp encounters. But in general if it red and there’s a chance I can kill it, I will try.
