correction, its based only on the male armor set from that concept art.

That’s not a correction, that’s a specification. I said the set is based on concept art, which you yourself admitted it is.

I love Gnome and Undead. Draenei is by far the worst. Looks like a bad leveling set.

Troll looks cool imo. I even like the mask.

Draenei is bad. They tried for some armor shown in some of the OG art but then they made it less sexy and in the process made it look like jumbled garbage.

Well then you are like a shiny pokemon on these forums! I’m glad some do like it at least. I always feel bad for the artists in situations like this where the sentiment is so very negative.

Its always tough love for artists, especially when they don’t get to chose exactly what they are working on or how to do it. Hopefully they can understand that art only gets these strong reactions(mine included) because it is so important to so many of us.

I guess you could use these masks to match with other mogs, but ye, these alternatives wouldn’t match the heritage at all. And ideally we should have separate cloth scarf that goes under the nose, and proper voodoo ritual mask.

But it looks like we get reused WoD assets. These masks aren’t bad, but I got accustomed that they’re wall decorations and I’d rather if it was something modeled specifically for a troll in mind.

I agree. I do like that kind of mask in general. If they are indeed made available to us I’m sure I’ll find a use for them.

Here’s a link to another post with a pretty thorough breakdown of everything that’s wrong with the set.

The issues with the Troll set are more issues of missed opportunity since the Darkspear have some of the coolest cultural armor thematically speaking of all races. It’s not an inherently ugly set (except for the mask, and belt on the male). It’s more that there are obvious clipping issues and a few of the pieces are boring texture wise (boots, gloves).

There are so many existing concepts in WC3, WoW, and official Concept Art and Lore that ought to have been used instead. It’s no secret that Troll players have wanted epic back rigs with skulls and a properly fitted cloth mask and Rush’ka for a long time. (Maybe even a Trollish Glaive) This was kinda our shot to see that and it’s been blown.

Troll gailve was my wet dream for a long time. They look so cool and more elegant than DH glaives.

The 2H sword that was made is cool, but it’s not the first thing when it comes to mind when you think of Troll.

Yeah that thing is weird. Awesome, but weird. My fool’s hope is that the questline is all about Vol’jin the Loa and we are secretly getting troll paladins. And the sword is their thing.

I don’t think we will meet Vol’Jin tbh.

The datamined characters are some Darkspears, Zandalari, forest and sand trolls AND Loa (They turned Lukou to a Draenor Podling - I can’t with this! Podlings are native to Draenor, why making Loa take this form? And in fandom Lukou was functioning as beautiful troll female, opposite of Bwonsamdi)

So I guess the plot will be about relationship between other troll kind and the Loa, and they will mention Vol’Jin but Vol’Jin himself won’t appear.
That is my bet.

But I’d like to be positively surpised for a change.

I’m so baffled how they decided the solution to the horns clipping through the hat problem was to just delete the horns.

When designing gear that’s only meant to be worn by a specific race they should be taking that race’s features into consideration. Not just lazily taking a hack saw to horns because they couldn’t be bothered to actually design the Draenei gear for Draenei.

I won’t have a high level DS troll until pandaria remix, but I’ll get the heritage for it and use all but the helm.

The helm for the draenei is weird because it cuts off the horns, but overall don’t hate it. Do wish the shoulders had larger crystals though, but I’ll maybe use some of it for my hunter, although overall it doesn’t quite fit his aesthetic. We’ll see.

I really don’t have an issue with a lot of the more rounded helmets like this, or ones without things going up and over the helmet (ya know like the DK S1 DF set) just letting the horns clip through. I can at least use my imagination that it’s like, “Ahh yes, they went and got a few holes fashioned into the helm so they could kinda work their horns through it.”

It’s supposed to be Draenei gear, it should be designed with horns in mind. Not clipping through it and certainly not hacking off the horns.

I can use parts from the Draenei one to craft my own Draenei Heritage armor

Can do a lot with the Trading Post cloaks XD

This is the kind of big brain thinking Blizz isn’t used to doing this late into an expansion unfortunately. Honestly should have been common sense
