Is healbot still being used? I always liked that addon but I can’t find it. If it is not what other addons should I try in its place?
Generally it’s one of the popular raid frame addons (Grid2, ElvUI, Vuhdo, or default) combined with Clique (mouseover healing addon). WeakAuras can give really useful information too (active defensives, etc).
I’d suggest Grid2 if you want to get the most out of your frames, or ElvUI for a simpler setup. A bunch of people swear by Vuhdo but I’ve always found it to be a cluttered, buggy mess.
BigDebuffs is a really important addon for me, for raid frames I tend to just use the regular blizzard raid frames.
A few expansions back Healbot stopped getting some updates, someone else picked it up eventually I think. Should still be on curse.
Id pick up Vuhdo if you liked Healbot and want something similar. It’s the same but with lots more options to change how it looks and what you see/want to track. Can even make it look like healbot used to. It only get’s as cluttered as you want it to be. I keep mine simple. You also bind spells the same way as healbot, track/cure debuffs etc.
Ive never experienced any bugs myself in my time using it like mentioned above. There were a few times I didnt know how to configure things properly early on, and I set some weird options in frames, which resulted in things not working as intended, but no bugs. Once I figured the options out and what they did it was just a really detailed Healbot - that had much more update frequency.
If you liked healbot Id suggest trying Vuhdo. Look up a youtube video to get started as the many options can overwhelm some people. not a lot is explained in the addon itself.
Search healbot continued. It’s what I’ve been using since 2007 and very much still there. On curse that is.
Plexus (follow on to grid) with the raid debuff plugin. Grid2 is good as well. Prefer their indicators rather than the micro icons with tiny sweep timers. An interesting option that requires little setup is Aptcheka.
Tellmewhen is like weak auras but easier to set up (at least for me).
For click casting clique and clicked are both great. Clique is simpler to set up but clicked has a ton of other options.
Those are the core ones. The rest are gravy. Plater for nameplates. Nugrunning for timers. Coolline for cooldown tracking.
ThreatPlates isn’t mentioned here so I’ll add that, makes it much easier to see what needs dispelling.
If you like the default Blizzard raid frames, get the Enhanced Raid Frames addon. Super nice and allows you additional customizability with displaying HOTs and such.
NeatPlates
Default evlui plates with Clique is the best option imo
I recommend the following:
DBM
ELVUI
For healing I just use mouse over macros on the Elvui nameplates
Those are really the only two I use that helps with healing.
For me, the key to healing well isn’t based on your addons.
It really comes down to screen UI positioning (unit and raid frames are movable, and are the most important bits of information for a healer) and macros/keybinds.
Mouseover macros are particularly useful if you’re trying to bounce between healing and DPS. Good healers try to be useful 100% of the time, not just when a heal is needed.
