New guild failing

i am posting this on an alt on a different server than i normally use because i am embarrassed. I am sure the problem is me

So i couldnt find a guild that i really liked. There was either a lot of drama with people arguing or screwing around, or they would continuously ask me to join their raid groups when i told them i cant do raids for personal reasons, and making me feel guilty when i kept saying no. I even had one guild leader ask me to give them money, not gold, but US dollars.

I decided it was time to start my own guild. I got some random people to sign my charter and made a new guild.

I started recruiting by saying in trade that i started a new guild for new players or players with alts to level together and have some fun.

I would search the who box for people at low to mid levels that were not in a guild and ask them if they were interested in hearing about my guild. most didnt respond

how can i recruit people. I think at this point i have like 5 different people in the guild and only 1 logs in, besides me.

I bought 5 tabs, have guild repairs, mats and bags in the tabs for anyone to take, offer help with leveling if they want.

i havent had anyone quit, but i cant seem to find anyone to join. Any help would be very appreciated. I dont want the new guild to fail, but i suspect it is going to end up a bank guild.

i should add, all of the friends i had in game have since left the game, so i dont have any friends in game

Unfortunately the reality of the situation is that BFA is absolutely murdering WoW’s population. When the population dips as low as it has, guilds fail and disband or mergers have to take place. Now is the absolute worst time to start or rebuild a guild. Even the established guilds are struggling. I tried and failed myself after eight years of successful GM’ing.

On top of this, there are just too many guilds in WoW right now. Everyone and their mother wants to have a semi-hardcore, friendly, helpful, social raiding guild. With the dwindling playerbase there just aren’t enough applicants to support so many guilds.

That’s why I’ve been devoting my recruitment efforts to a Classic guild since that’s the future (and past, haha) of the game. With that said, if you’re interested in talking about positions for it and all that stuff I’d be interested. I feel your pain about the recruitment efforts failing as I’ve been in the exact same boat.

Just reach out here if you care to learn more, but if not, best of luck.

Hi there,

I just started my guild a little over a month ago and we have around 40 members (and soooo many alts). My suggestions:

-Make sure your server has high population for your faction.
-Make a recruitment macro to spam in trade chat
-Keep looking for people looking for guilds
-Make sure that you know what your marketing–try to highlight you guild as something like Social Casual, Casual PVP, Casual Dungeons, etc.
-Recruit at different times on different days, a lot of players log in at weird and ungodly hours
-Really set the tone for your guild to follow, for example, when people log in we all tend to say hello

Raiding guilds are the most popular these days so people may not be inclined to join. The number of members that you have will have an impact on your recruiting, feel free to grab alts–even if they wont be on much!

I wish you the best of luck in your journey!
