New Gearing System: My Great Idea!

I have devised a system that will fairly allow all players to gear without overly favoring any type of content. I will explain in an orderly fashion. Please keep an open mind as you read!

  1. Base Gear Set: At the start of the expansion, everyone has a base set of gear. It all starts out at the same ilevel.

  2. This base gear is “charged”. How does charging work: As you complete different forms of content, you are given “energy” to charge the piece of gear of your choice. You decide which gear slot you charge.

  3. As gear is charged, the ilevel increases. It would probably follow a pattern of each step up required more “charging” to move up the ilevel.

  4. Different content would give out different amounts of energy. Mythic raids and high end mythic plus would of course give the most. World quests would give less. However anyone doing enough of any sort of content could raise their gear as high as they wanted, assuming they put in the hours of effort. It would be easier and quicker for mythic raiders/high end mythic plus players because they are doing the hardest content. But all players could charge up their gear.

  5. Killing bosses in mythic raids/clearing mythic plus would give all participants an equal portion of energy to charge their gear. No more squabbling over who gets which piece. Everyone who participates in a kill gets the energy.

  6. Drops (Raid and Dungeon): There would still be drops from bosses. I repeat again bosses would still drop cool stuff. They could drop mounts, pets, transmogs, toys or other goodies. They just would not drop gear anymore. I point out, all that gear you acquire from hours of raiding will just be vendored anyway. Pets, mounts, toys and transmogs last forever. It would be more worthwhile to raid and run dungeons.

  7. Achievements: You would still get achievements like AoTc, etc, from clearing raids and mythic/mythic plus dungeons.

TLDR: It is time to change how we get powerful gear! My great idea will correct the gear imbalance that now exists in this game. It will in one stoke solve the “master looter problem” and also make a fair system of gearing for all players regardless of what form of content in game they consume. It will also invigorate raiding and dungeons and make it more attractive to players to run this type of content.

This system will greatly improve the gaming experience.

I hope Blizzard will adopt my suggestion!

Thank You and have a great Sunday!

Best Regards,
Rastlin

How does this Fix PvP Gear? This Could work with PvE gear.

From an army of alt user, this method would require me to play more and I don’t have time for that.

Excellent Point:

Perhaps energy could be bind to account.

Currently gear can only be sent to alts if it is boe. If we made energy bind to account you could send it to your alts and this would be an improvement over the current gear system, at least as it pertains to gearing alts!

I would totally be down for this concept except there would be a larger gap between the players that play more and the players that don’t have time to play more.

Perhaps.

But I point out: Effort should equal reward.

I also note that those players who “just log in for their raid nights” would still be at an advantage as this content would richly reward them with energy for their gear.

A world quester/LFR runner/heroic dungeon doer would have to spend a great deal more time gaming to reach the same gear spot.

Terrible idea

For a start, it would mean less options for gearing, as you’d have one base set that is static… it’d be as boring as grinding azurite is now for the neckpiece.

Secondly, it would not encourage people to do content, and would have people whine about the grind.

change it back to what it used to be a token system.1-2 tokens drop off a a mini boss and 3-5 tokens drop off of the main boss.

this was the best system wow ever had besides the honor system for pvp.

The goal here is to make the system fair for gearing.
Thus, all game content contributes to building the best level gear.

It would no longer be exclusive to mythic raiding/high end mythic plus. (Just much easier to obtain that way.)

And how do you suggest enchanters get materials?

Also, some of us don’t care too much about toys, pets, or mounts. We’d rather have the gear to vendor for the gold.

Gear is not exclusive to mythic/ mythic + as the items are the exact same, but lower ilevels in easier modes of content. You’re not getting anything different.

Effort = reward which titanforging completely negates at the moment, but the point remains. You want the good stuff, do the content. You want to grind for everything - play runescape.

like back in tbc if there was a piece of gear on a vendor for 20 tokens i know i can run a heroic dungeon 6 or 7 times for tokens and get a piece or gear .this current rng system isnt fair at all you can run a m+ and still get zero loot while 1 group member gets 3 drops off bosses.

the token system was fair everyone got tokens off the bosses when they were defeated every group member did.

In TBC though there was a 1 day lockout on heroics, and you usually had to wait in the looking for group channel for hours before you could get a group together, unless you had friends. Not to mention TBC vendor gear was not very spectacular… you used items that dropped from the raids plus the tokens for equivalent and of course, tier was exclusive to the raids.

yes but the token system was fair wasnt it?if you killed a mini boss everyone got 2 tokens if you killed a boss everyone got 4 tokens.if you did all the heroics you could usually get a piece of gear.then you would save for the more expensive token gear.

wasnt that not fair and one of the best gear system wow had?

Fair depended on whether you could get a group or not :stuck_out_tongue:

BTW I loved the BC heroics - they were fun.

Also I’ll point out that in wrath, the tokens only got the LFR equivalent for that tier.

true that i was lucky to run with 4 friends back then now only im left playing wow so to be honest the rng system has served me great on my main…lol.

Does that mean I can be a smartphone?

One of the biggest issues people had with the artifact weapons in Legion was that you never got to look forward to an upgrade. You just got it at the start and didn’t change it for the rest of the expansion. Your idea is basically that except for every piece instead of it just being the weapons.

With this system, killing a boss would always give you a reward.

true but toknes is lazy and you know how lazy blizzard dev team is.tokens were easy to do.
