A PVE server doesn’t make you play the game a different way like a PVP server does and you still have the option to PVP on a PVE server. You can’t choose to be PVE on a PVP server. PVE gives you the choice and this announcement takes that choice away.

Yes you can, the entire leveling of the game is PVE… You can still PVE on a PVP server, you just have a chance to get ganked. I address blizzards choice in this comment here…

Kaivax…Is there a good reason why you wont answer simple questions like is there going to be a pve server as well. A simple yes or no would suffice. I’m sure the millions of dollars you all make each year could pay someone to type a yes or no .

If you’re not playing a Druid then that’s a valid point. Still not a very big impact imo.
It would be nice if there was a PVE server along with the PVP. I am considering not playing at all if I am forced to go with PVP since I have been waiting for the fresh start. Even the PTR I recently played on has a PVE server…

I was on PvP servers originally. Now I’ve got 3 kids (two with special needs) and carving out gaming time has to be done between diaper changes and sippy cup refills.
I remember the days where we had to drag our entire raid outside to clear PvPers so our players could enter the dungeon (whenever we’d need someone to swap between bosses), or even the utter chaos that happened around dungeon entrances during popular holiday events. I remember doing the same things at meeting stones or helping revenge guildmates getting camped in STV. It was fun. It is fun. I’m not saying it’s not fun.
But at this stage in my life, my gaming time is limited. Playing on a PvP server means expecting extra time due to PvP disruption. I don’t have that time any more. I will happily PvP away in a BG when my kids are napping, but I can’t put aside the time to constantly be ghost running back to my body because my kids won’t give me enough uninterrupted time to farm materials for raid.
I’m solidly with Team Geriatric Millenial - I’m happy to limp my way through PvE but I know EXACTLY what PVP servers look like during a launch - especially if you’re not hardcore enough to be at the front of the leveling pack. I stayed up overnight on most expansion releases to make sure I never had to deal with that and that my leveling zones were basically ghost towns. My kids won’t let me do that any more.
I just want the nostalgia on a server where I’m not going to get hosed by people sitting on a mountain of GDKP gold or camped for an hour by someone over twice my level.

I was a pvp monster, would take any fight any minute and LOVED it… Winning, losing, ganks, 3v1s, 1v3s it didn’t matter it was part of it…
I got 2 kids now (1 disabled)… I became a stay at home dad BECAUSE of said disability, some of us aren’t “afraid” of PvP… Some of us just outright don’t have the TIME for the randomness PvP causes
Which means we’ve waited weeks, months, years, some of us a decade+ (not sure the exact math, I’m sure it’s atleast that) to relive that glory (before they started to kill the game we love(d)… only for us to get disrespected like this (with them sneaking this in 4 days before)… ActivisionBlizzard is gonna ActivisionBlizzard… I guess that’s what we get for assuming they’d do the common sense/right thing
But it doesn’t make it any less bull****

What about a oceanic fresh server? Us oceanic players can’t play US servers as we get 300-400ms ping

I came here also to voice my disappointment about only a pvp server. This sucks. Some of us where going to enjoy a fresh start but nope…I guess Blizzard can t be arsed

I still have a lot of sympathy for the PvE folks though. Blizzard saving this announcement for 4 days out is a savage move to the PvE community.

It’s cool, when the server is dead in 3-6 months between transfers being allowed and having alienated a huge chunk of the playerbase, I’m sure everybody will look back fondly on this very smart decision
