Any chance with the new forums that frequent flaggers will be called out for overly flagging? I ask because I saw they are limiting the number of flags a person can give in a certain time period.
How about some transparency and making flagging public knowledge? Why let cowardly people hide in the shadows? If they think something is wrong, make them stand behind it. I have flagged maybe 5-6 times in 14 years. I have no issue with my name being attached to what I flag. I also can defend my opinions.
Being easily and overly offended is not something that should be encouraged.
If the flagging stays hidden, and people are allowed to do the max everyday, they are attempting to weaponize the tools of the community. All that will do is encourage others to simply make sure they hit the max flag count every day as well.
what is flagging ? is this like reporting a post and if so why would you need to know which people report things and how much - it really would be a useless number because I could come on here once a week and flag 5 things and someone else could come on daily and flag 2 things a day and then would be labelled 'worse' than me in your eyes.

Talking about the game should be.
This isn't that.
I wouldn't worry too much about how people are going to receive what you have to say. Talk about how you feel. Enter into debates honestly and debate the points of the argument. Have a discussion. Respect the people around you.
If you have to worry about stuff like this? Perhaps you should revisit how you communicate.

Flagging will be a bully tool and the changes they are springing on us suddenly are a real slap in the face.
As long as the community isn't actively restricted from spam flagging that one persons minions threads.. I'll be ok with the changes I think. If they are, then the moderators better start stepping up their game and actually moderate vs waiting on us to flag stuff.

If it were that simple, I would agree. When many readers cant read a simple ? and understand that it means a question and not a statement, that puts the reception and translation phases into communication into question.
The five key stages in the communication cycle are message creation, transmission, reception, translation and response.
The first stage in communication is the creation of an idea or the message. It is the process by which the sender decides what he wants to communicate and selects the channel through which to convey this information.
The second step is message transmission. This process may be as simple as meeting with the recipient and orally communicating the information, or communicating with the intended recipient over the phone.
The reception stage involves change of communication responsibilities between the sender and the recipient. The receiver obtains the information by reading the information in written format or listening carefully to the message when delivered orally.
The next stage is translation. During this step, the recipient encodes the message into a form that he easily understands. This may involve an individual listening to or reading the message and paraphrasing it in his head.
The final stage in communication cycle is response. It fulfills the requirement of an effective communication as a two-way street. After receiving the message, the recipient crafts a response and communicates it verbally or in a written format.

You know if you don't like the new forum you can just stop posting on it. I probably will because I hate the overwatch format.

A person who flags a post is not the villain. Making it a public thing just runs the risk of them being dogpiled or harassed. Allowing them to quietly tap blizzard on the shoulder and let them assess a post is important. It doesn't happen automatically. If blizzard agree it's a problem then they are the ones who do something about it. Not the person who flags it.

Dude, no. Come on. Most people are not that petty.

Which has nothing to do with sticking to the rules, lmao

I flagged for the first time in the last month and a half AFTER 14 years of reading these forums. Why? Because the policy taught me its ok to not walk away and ignore, it MY JOB to flag people i disagree with so I can have MY forums the way I want them.
I used to think the forums were for everyone who played the game, even if they talked about things I didnt like. Now? I have the same right to act out like everyone else does. Still only 5-6 in say a month, month and a half. with me trying. I bet some people hit that by lunch time in a day...

You know how you behave and your reasons for doing things aren't necessarily the same as other peoples. What you are basically claiming is because you abused the report system you think others will do the same thing as well.

Its not *YOUR forums , its blizzard's forums. Their house their rules :)
You can make your own forums and follow whatever rules you desire nobody is stopping you.

You've got the wrong idea then. Of course you can walk away and ignore. That's what most people do with most of the threads they look at. You don't report a post just because you disagree. You report posts for being offensive, abusive, threatening. Things like that. Reporting a post just because you disagree with it is a waste. If there's nothing wrong with it the mod will just look at it and think "Oh, that's fine", and nothing will happen.
Do they build up if they go unused? In my surfing here I have used two likes and zero down votes when they were available.
If they build up can I sell them for in game gold?

The next stage is translation. - Misunderstanding sarcasm apparently occurred in this phase. There are many people on here I have seen reference these forums as their house and the need to make the forums the way THEY want them, so I was referencing those attitudes.
Yes, under current law, Blizzard's forums are their forums. A simple law change could very easily change these into being part of the public square and fall under the first amendment.
I prefer NO authoritarian interference, in forums or in law, but with the actions of some online entities, I feel a law change may be coming soon. Blizzard would than be lumped in with Facebook and Twitter and COULD held accountable
TBH this community already has a huge problem with people reporting people and threads for petty reasons I don't see these new forums turning out well.

You do realize that right now anyone can report any post on the forums right? Flagging just replaces reporting...
Of all the bloody things to cry about as bullying. I've said this to you before and I'll say it again: if you knew what real bullying was you wouldn't throw that word around. You actually are insulting every person who has actually been bullied.
Follow the CoC/rules as you've agreed to do and you won't have any thing to worry about. Breaking that agreement by breaking the rules will have appropriate consequences.

Yeah I'd more call it trolling myself
