New expansion looks terrible, wow is doomed

First of all, the age of blockbuster expansions is over. Clearly this is a shift to smaller expansions due to the lack of interest and proportionally lower investment of resources into the franchise.
But even with the smaller investment, this looks awful. If you’re a fan of Warcraft, I can’t see how you want to keep playing this game. It’s so far removed from the core of WoW. It’s literally an expansion for a niche group of players. The dragon race looks something you’d see off of a mobile game.

Sad to see wow continue on its long slow decline. I’ll always remember the good times.

can I have half of the gold you get?

Can we split that gold in 3rd’s lads?

Actually, it looks refreshing. I hope it won’t fall to the same cliche big baddie like every other expansion. Would be nice to get an open world with loads of different subjects going on. And the new race might be somewhat simple but it’s such a nice thing to see a break from generic inflated males and stereotypical females.

Four way split then we go see a movie?

… Yeah, sure, cosmic adventures in the afterlife fighting some guy made up at 8:00pm on a Friday with a cocktail napkin’s worth of development is WoW, but teaming up with classic, long established and loved characters to adventure across and explore lands of Azeroth fighting Centaur and Gnolls somehow isn’t.

I get it. It isn’t the expansion you wanted. And you’re free to complain and criticize.

But trying to call this “removed from the core of WoW,” especially after the gibbering nonsense of Shadowlands is just utter lunacy.

This was Blizzard’s chance to fix their mistake and now, with them having way less spotlight, they had the opportunity to make something riskier that people could really enjoy.

Instead they went with something to once again try and go after what they think is “in”. Instead of going back to the bones of wow, we’re getting wow once again pulled towards whatever is popular.

Considering the small amount of content we get for our money, I don’t see why people want to keep playing something unless the content is really, really good, and I don’t think this is it.

How are dragons not the bones of WoW?

Blame the playerbase. They’ve proven by breaking preorder sales for BFA and Shadowlands Blizzard don’t even need to try anymore. They can just do the same exact thing everytime and the whales will gobble it up and proceed to twiddle their thumbs off store mounts while AFK in the capital. Raise the level cap, rehash some old races and create 4 “new” zones. Reskin something that already exists and sell it as a key feature. Rake in those preorders and then proceed to keep the expansion on life support for 2 years.

This was the same exact announcement trailer as BFA/Shadowlands with some minor changes. They really aren’t even trying anymore.

The new expansion is crap because of all the pre-orders.

Thanks for your purchase of Shadowlands Two.

I’m shocked at how quick people are to forget.

What did you expect? Another space like expansion like shadowlands?

This is as close to the roots as we can get and people still complain.

I swear some people want this game to turn into StarCraft or something so we can fight space monsters and have lasers.

I’m glad they’re reverting back to dragons and something in its roots.

What are you talking about? They’re creating a new rotation to M+ that will keep it fresh each season, they’re implementing a PVP gear system to appease that, they’re continuing to vault style for loot guarantees, they’re bringing back talent trees to allow for choices that don’t impact damage and give you some freedom, they’re adding templates, they’re re-doing the UI to make addons less “required” and allow for freedom.

What, honestly, is the “in” that is so awful?

I swear man, people will complain every chance they get.

All I know is they will make conquest max ilvl inside pvp regardless of rank. That’s all I want.

How can you have a proper “Blockbuster” when you never have any build up expacs? Seriously? Shadowlands is an example of a Blockbuster with no lead up. It would have been GREAT if we had an expac or two of leadup to tell us about the Jailer. Instead, no one cares about it.

This “doom” you are talking about, is the real one? Or just a fake one like the ones i have read for over a decade now?

I’m making my rainbow dragon squad with my 5 accounts so I can have 1 of each color! I want to be able to RP as a traveling band of merchant dragons that know how to craft various items for folks.

Have a toon parked out front each crafting station rping as a dragon merchant sounds really fun.

Saying wow is “Doomed” is a bit overdramatic, wow certainly is being ‘sunsetted’ and allowed to die off slowly
