Instead of increasing the level cap by 5-10 per expansion, why not just set everyone back to level 50 at the start of each expansion? The gear is already designed to scale by item level, so revert everyone to level 50 and set the item level to a pre-determined state based on the gear source (heroic, mythic… etc).
This systems seems much easier to manage than the current method.

That sounds gross to me, I don’t agree with squishes in the first place though.
This isn’t a seasonal game it’s an MMO with character progression.

Just go back to lvl 100 and introduce a mastery system imo like worked for a ton of other MMO’S and now even Single Player RPGs

To be honest, I sort of thought that was the plan when the announced they were squishing us in Shadowlands. Otherwise all the squish does is just sort of delay the problem of ever-increasing level caps (if you think there’s one; I know not everyone does).
Though, I suppose they could be planning on doing it periodically. A reset back to a level 60 cap after every few expansions (after it climbs back up to 120, for example) would be a lot less disruptive than doing it every time.

Are you sure? Bowered power make it feels like each expansion is just a really long seasonal game and the borrowed power are just the seasonal mechanic.

Can’t tell if trolling or if you’ve been under a rock until yesterday, but there’s no external power system in the upcoming expansion.
I was hoping they were going to keep the level cap at 60. New expansion levels from 50 to 60 and previous expansion goes into the 1-50 system.
That’s one of the ONLY things I liked about Systemlands… the level squish.
You’d love Anarchy Online, the max level (when you pay monthly) is 240.
I think they should just end leveling all together. Start a new expansion with new zones but they are end-game zones and the iLevel increases and you progress through the story to upgrade your character even more.
Probably a really dumb idea, but it’s all I got right now.
with how they were doing borrowed powers every xpac they could have removed the need to level 10 lvls for a xpac and just focused on the borrowed power. the farther you go the more powerful you feel where as with leveling you start off strong and as you level you get weaker until level cap where your weak af and need alot of gear to feel almost as strong as you did at the start. could do something like the paragon system from diablo. i know people will always argue with me for saying this but leveling is just a part of the game that you rush through to get over as quick as you can to get to the real game. raiding m+ and pvp.
Oh I’m sure dragon riding won’t be anything like that. A seasonal thing that they forget about in the future.
