New edited UI resets when you logout?

My UI that I edit with the new Edit Mode keeps resetting. Anyone else having this issue?

Mine reset when I left a raid group after doing the world boss. I didn’t even have to log out.

Same , though I was going crazy after fixing my UI like 5 times , logged out and come back and UI all reset again. They should’ve made this a option to change from old UI

Same here. Spent an hour configuring my UI only to have it randomly reset on me. Really annoying.

Yes! This is driving me nuts! Resets to default every time and never saves when I log out.

So I think I figured it out. Don’t mess with the chat box. It seems if you edit the chat box, anything you do to edit the UI won’t save. So set up your UI without touching the chat box, and then save, that should work. I guess the chat box is bugged so do not mess with that till they fix it.

Same thing happened to me. Spent over an hour getting everything set up exactly how I wanted it. Thought “finally, I don’t have to use an addon just to make the UI livable” and then when I logged back into the game everything had been wiped out.

Between this and the performance/hitching issues, I don’t even feel like trying to play any more. How did these extremely core problems make it out of testing and onto live?

I would recommend doing a /reload before logging out. I had this issue for a little bit (it’s probably been fixed by Blizzard by now) and that seemed to fix it (this was before I bailed on the new UI entirely and went back to ElvUI).

Tried today still cant edit the chat box

The settings are in
[WoW Folder]\WTF\Account\[your account]\edit-mode-cache-account.txt

Without using addons, maybe try renaming that before logging in and re-creating from scratch (sucks) and see if that sticks.

You can always rename the old one back even if you just make some quick changes including chat to test and they don’t work.

Edit: added “Without using addons” for clarity.

No, sorry no work. I’m experiencing similar but different problem.
On this toon, just having issue saving edit mode or even exiting edit mode.
My other toons are ok.

Also my other Addon Opie; some rings work sometimes.

I just hope these issues are fixed within the next fortnight

My suggested fix was not meant to infer it would fix problems if you have other addons causing taint in the editmode system. Apologies for not clarifying that properly.

I would also like to add that I’m also having this issue and dont know a work around other than Addons… seems everyone is annoyed by this.

I’ve been having this issue for weeks now. I tried everything to fix it, including deleting all addons and reinstalling Wow (after creating a backup of my settings). I even used WinDirStat to make sure there weren’t any files related to WoW left on my PC. Still broken.

Something interesting I found was that on my laptop, my UI settings are changeable and I can save them there. Any changes on my laptop transfer over to my desktop. However, because the screen sizes are different, of course the proportions and positions don’t correlate well on my desktop monitor… so that is rather useless for me.

I just wonder why I can’t change them on one computer? I hope that this issue doesn’t transfer to my laptop eventually… I just want a UI that I like :frowning:

Take a look at
https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/CVar_synchronizeSettings

See if your laptop’s and Desktop’s World of Warcraft\WTF\Config.wtf or World of Warcraft\WTF\<Account>\<server>\<charactername>\Config-cache.wtf has any entries for synchronizeSettings, synchronizeBindings, or synchronizeConfig
They will look something like this:
SET synchronizeSettings 1

It’s possible that for whatever reason there is an explicit entry for one of those settings on 1 computer and either a different setting on the other or no-setting which is either allowing one to edit/save the UI on one computer but not the other. Maybe make the desktop match the laptop in that case.

I tried this, and so far it’s working! I’ve tested it on two different characters, so hopefully this is the “fix” until Blizz does something about it.

Still a thing

There was a small update two days ago and ever since my edited UI reverts back to original every time I log out and back in. I reset all my 35 alts’ UIs yesterday and now have to do it again. I just want to play …

Still a thing, happens to me on every character when I log on for the first time or switch between characters. Tried deleting UI folders, tried deleting and creating/importing edit mode caches. Seems to happen more with multiple action bars if anything…

Need a blue post to come along and save the day… any takers?
