There are all sorts of players in this game. Some like me love a full clear that we do not want to be Vote Kicked for. Others want a single face-pull to the last boss and get out as fast as possible. Casuals are gradually becoming more prevalent in this game. So what if another mode was added so the ONLY mode is not the one changed?
If there were an option in LFD to queue for:
- Random Normal/Heroc : Full Clear
- Random Normal/Heroic
- Specific Normal/Heroic : Full Clear
- Specific Normal/Heroic
Which one would you choose? Does it split the players a bit? Sure. But the players are already split. So why not let the slow ones go with the slow option, and the speed demons go with the current option? I love a full clear and always figure more options means more people enjoying the game their way.

The idea has merit. But with humans involved…. If the full clear is the shorter queue, skippers are gonna skip.

easy solution. make it so you cannot move on until all bosses are completed. ala the barriers in magisters terrace.
Sooo bring FF14 wall pulling to WoW?
I personally enjoy the creative freedoms we have to come up with the fastest/most efficient routes to get stuff done and pefer that to dungeons with set routes or hard walls
There is currently an option for “Untimed” or whatever they call it, the idea is to just clear the dungeon regardless of timer so players who are pushing a bit can still get a clear and not worry about time or leavers.
Yet people just leave regardless because they join without thinking or knowing it is a thing, and because ElvUI and possibly other addons hide this option, if you turn off your addons you will see it when you list a group.
It will be no different to any other option, players will not notice or know it’s a thing and players will leave if things go sideways.
They already added that mode last expansion, it’s called follower dungeons.
You already have an answer to what you want. Form your own group, fill it with all the people who want to run the dungeons the same way you do. Don’t expect 4 random strangers to share your same goals.
Splitting the queue up even further is a terrible idea. More options are not always better.
Or just make it so you can’t get dungeon credit until everything is dead or a % of bosses are down.
Spread xp across bosses vs a lump sum at the end.
The fact that you get more xp for just beating the final boss than if you actually do the dungeon, always felt like a bug rather than an intended feature to me.
Like the rdf is supposed to give you the xp for the instance completion right? But since when is the instance completed if you just defeat one boss?
With this power, m+ might as well complete just because we kill the last boss with 0% EF and 1/4 boss kills.
It sounds stupid because it is stupid and the rdf situation is no different at all.
Ppl skip because they can. Its simply the optimal solution to the problem (levelling/tw clears).
Fix the rdf to require all objectives to be completed in order to award xp and this problem vanishes as it should have long ago.
[In fact, this issue has caused such levels of toxicity in Plaguefall normal, during SL that blizzard actually fixed that dungeon alone to require full clears… this alone says a lot about this issue.]
Btw I dont particularly care as levelling is already pretty irrelevant in its current form, but this is how I feel about this issue.
Ion said during BFA that mindless aoe in m+ was a degeneracy (hence the SL aoe target cap nerfs), but if that is degeneracy then what is this?
Isn’t skipping bosses mostly just a thing in the current classic timewalking dungeons?
I don’t do normal outside of leveling, but it seems like most modern dungeons are designed in a way where you do all the bosses naturally anyway? I don’t really recall any groups I’ve done recently doing boss skips.
That’s a really good idea. Good post I hope this gets traction.

I can’t do time walking deadlines with follower dungeons. The idea would be for All normal dungeons for those who don’t want to do follower but also don’t want to skip bosses and trash.
I was just thinking as an example if somebody wanted to queue up for Dire Maul in the regular timeframe and not the time walking timeframe that the full clear option would allow the players who want to do all of the bosses and get the experience points to do them. The regular queue would still exist and people who wanted to just do a couple of bosses could.
