New druid forms!

LAYING THE GROUND WORK

We all love druid forms. We all love having MORE druid forms. We all see heckin’ cool beast models in the wild and wish we could look like them. At the same time, Blizzard developers already have all-the-tasks; and new druid forms involve many-additional-tasks. BUT what if you could give us all the variety, while also leveraging the full potential of the work you’ve already done?!?

THE PREMISE

Take the hunter “tame pet” ability and tweak it to be a druid “study (emulate) beast” ability. Take the hunter stable master, and tweak it to be a druid form master. Take the hunter “summon pet” ability, and tweak it to be a “form swap” ability. Hunters have tomes that allow them to tame dragons? Boom, druids have tomes that allow them to study dragons.

Hunter, pets are already categorized into Tenacity, Ferocity and Cunning. Just map those to be our Bear, Cat, and Caster forms.

With small tweaks to existing systems, you enable massive amounts of customization and hours of joyous form farming! Druid “study beast” could leave the beast alive and tamable/farmable, so as not to tax hunters and rare farmers for our cool new thing; or not if you like the idea of having additional competition for those models.

YOUR MIND IS BLOWN, WHAT NOW?

This isn’t my idea, this is YOUR idea! Email this post around in your teams. Be sure to say, “I’ve had this idea for years, is it time to implement it?!” And when it inevitably gains traction and everybody loves it, send your buddy Dreamwaker a message saying, “We did it!”

I like your spirit, but it will be broken.

That’d require them doing work.

The idea is wonderful. The fatal flaw is and always will be animations. Its way too much work to invest for such little return.

I do admire your positivity. Keep it for as long as you can friend.

Eh, functionally this is a lot to animate and make feel good for player use, and lorewise the forms are kinda based on druid orders so this steps quite wide of that.

I think that appropriating dragon customization is actually a decent path towards more options for druid forms. Furs, colors, horns, teeth, claws, maybe slight body size changes, armor bits, etc.

I would vote yes for this!

If they actually did something like this, I would be so frickin excited. Seriously, I would annoy people in my RL by blathering about it constantly.

That would be epic. No two druids would be the same and all would be able to express themselves.
