If you put that so called 7-8% dps nerf back to hunters, the class will ranked more or less in the same group of other melees. Every hunter player told the devs, pre nerf due to the bad scaling, hunters would remain the same and other classes would out dps hunter soon, but the devs decided to nerf the pure dps class. Showing how incompetent the team real is.
Ps I am not asking to be no1 on dps list. And I don’t think it is correct to have some classes be no1 or some being no5 etc. the difference between each classes should be within a small margin for example +/-1.5-2 %. That is pretty much one consum or a skill is casted at the right moment, so the dps difference comes down to a little preparation or actual game play.
Right now this brain dead list of numbers made ppl mad and devs following it blindly feels very unprofessional

Someone close to them plays Warrior too, thankfully.
melee hunter is above pala and feral on the list and is about 10%dps less than top 3 melees… which means the nerf is unnecessary only to upset players
ok and um, why do you think melee hunters should be in “the same group of other melees” they are a ranged class.
Just a reminder that hunters are the only pure DPS class in SoD, and they should have the highest single target DPS
Please notice I am only saying hunters should be in the same group as other melees, not asking for be the top.
Right know it dosent even matter as melee or ranged hunter are out of dps group.
They promoted ranged play style by nerfing the melee spec, and both spec of a pure dps class are now the second tier compare other melee classes.
Devs need to learn the basic of wow classic before they touch the game
any balancing to classes unrelated to PvP is cute
Current metrics have Hunters in 4th and 5th of 14 DPS slots. I feel to see the issue.
If they didn’t have much utility, that might make sense.
But:
Kings
Traps
Massive AP buff (Trueshot)
Pet taunts if needed
If we’re going with your logic, rogues would be top.
(Yes, they can tank technically, but there’s 4,000 total Rogue tank parses over the last 2 weeks.)
Rogues have the ‘least’ utility in raid.
They also have the least utility of all the melee classes, with no aoe damage. They should unquestionably be top damage for all bosses.
Traps aren’t a part of the melee hunter’s kit. They can’t use trap launcher.
Trueshot is a 31 point marksman tree talent.
Pets take 200% damage from bosses. They die in 1 hit if they taunt. You’re living in a phase 1 fantasy land. Pets are era tier now.
Rogues can expose armor, kick, and tank. Hunter cannot do any of those things and kicking has been a vital mechanic in every raid so far.
Just another topic of “and this is the reason why MY class should be the best!”. Man, ya’ll got nothing better to do huh?
pls take kings away from hunters so I can blast with lone wolf and not have to buff the raid.
Traps don’t really offer much utility because they’re a core part of our dps rotation now, you’re just slamming them on CD.
Just lol@pet taunts, unless you’re the 1 hunter in the raid running stats buff, you most likely won’t even have a pet out to begin with

Edit; this is from mm perspective, almost all of those things still apply to melee hunters too except traps (but you don’t use trap launcher, so again, you aren’t really trapping hardly ever in PvE)
Not asking for the best or no 1. Just showing the nerf was unnecessary and the logic behind nerf was at elementary school level.
You apply retail logic to a game, where pve is supposed to be a cakewalk with bosses-loot piniatas. The only thing that should be important is quality of the game in general and the variety of content available for you.

Never played retail. But if a dps can’t be in top tier class, ppl will most likely gate keep the class.
You are not pushing world first mythic raid here. Applying “gate keeping” for anything else is wrong. If you are not a hunter, you have other roles available to get your desired spot. There are just too many dps players in the game. Token system exists, OS loot exists, socialising exists.
Just stay away from 99 parsing crowd and you will be fine.
You know I have made thousands of comments (hyperbole ofc) about why shamans should have just been an elemental themed fury warrior with not a focus on spells outside of accent or shocks, and definitely not spell power scaling.
I remember writing countless times, this will be a problem. dual wield on old imbues will be a problem. MSW with mental dexterity, yup this will be a problem.
Enhance should have just been a flavored 2h spec with 2 instant attacks and cleaved with crash lightning similar to ret and something a bit fresh. Still have all of its totems and spells, and with a focus on enhancing allies with additional runes.
Enhance as a spec has been notoriously hard to buff due to its half caster mechanics without sending it over the edge.
And that’s just pve, hell in PvP we have instant casts on spells that obviously have pure armor pen and are unkickable in a version of the game where spells boosted by spell power are very potent and are kept in check with cast bars.
If I wanted to play a spell damage focused dual wield shaman, I’ll just play cata or retail, where it’s done and done better.
A lot of folks were hoping for something different, not the most cracked elemental fury warrior to ever exist.
It’s interesting that whether it’s 2005 or 2024, there has always been a certain percentage of the population that are utterly incapable of offering feedback without insulting the people working on the game at the same time.
