NEW ABOMINATON TALENT OPTION IDEAS:
Move Abomination limb to Anti-Magic Zone location.
Move Anti-Magic Zone to Subduing Grasp (Rune Mastery on retail) location.
Move Assimilation to Abomination Limb location.
Abomination limb now deals Shadowfrost damage.
- Mainly adding this as a potential idea for damage tuning if damage ever becomes a problem tuning with the new shadow frost mechanics becoming available in the Hero Talent Tree.
New Choice Node where Assimilation is:
Ambidextrous
- While the limb is active, provides all benefits of being in Death and Decay. While in a Death and Decay with the limb active, gain X% more damage and take X% less damage.
Double Jointed
- Cooldown of Abomination Limb reduced by 30 seconds.
COMMENTS ON NEW TALENT TREE ISSUES AND REASONING:
The current capstone competition in the new class talent tree feels imbalanced. Abomination limb is the only meaningful, damage option available at the capstone now and even with the removal of the resources, it still feels too potent offensively compared to Blood Draw and the defensive AMS Choice node. Additionally, AMZ is a very strong but situational spell that is currently at the heart of the DK class skill tree which restricts any form of travel through the middle of the tree unless AMZ is useful in that specific encounter/content.
By swapping these two, it allows players to ignore AMZ if it is not situationally needed. It also gives players Abomination Limb which its damage and grip functions are arguably much more versatile. Abomination limb however currently no longer flows with Unholy rotation with the removal of Empower Rune Weapon which was the only other remaining 2 minute CD for this spec aside from Raise Dead which isn’t on the GCD and lasts 1 minute so not too synergistic. This is why I want to suggest adding a choice node depending on playstyle.
The 30 second CD reduction will be offered for both Unholy players and Frost players seeking a way to build around the new Rider of the Apocalypse build centered around the 1.5 min CD Frostwyrm’s Fury.
Blood players and Frost players that do not choose Rider of the Apocalypse will in turn want something meaningful to choose instead to keep the cooldown synced 2 minute CD rotations. I got the idea from the Riders themselves having “death and decay”, minus the damage, follow you around instead by providing all talented buffs. Since death and decay cant buff twice (as double Cleaving strikes would be insane) the idea is to keep it simple by providing an alternative damage increase and damage reduction while in a death and decay that will be easily tunable. This will add some skill gap by offering either extended cleaving windows for frost, or more potent single target by stacking. For Blood it will offer mobile Death and Decay buffs for moving pulls, or a nice damage reduction for initiating pulls, Something that was lost with the bone shield removal from the ability.
with the new tree having Cleaving Strikes and Unholy Ground leading straight into the center position, this would be an easy pathing for the tree aswell.
