New dh spec

Do you find the new spec easier to use versus the other two or is it harder to use?

Do you like being a melee dh or a caster dh? You can only choose one over the other can’t be both.

I’d say both havoc and devourer are both quite accessible specs.

Ranged devourer is very very easy.

Preference for me is Ragefire Havoc (really good AoE if not one of the best in massive pulls)

I’m not impressed with Devourer it feels clunky and doesn’t heal enough to pull any large mobs… 2 second casts always feel awful!

My Ret Paladin can pull as many mobs as she wants and never dies, and in Prot good luck killing her LOL!

Well it is a caster, its expected.

Ooof..ranged DH…where do I start.

  1. They do very little damage from 10 to about 50 and even then its pretty bad.
  2. I started to level one with my wife. So two DH Devourers running side by side. You know what happened? One of us would constantly die if we pulled 3-5 mobs. No way to peel outside of a taunt, no way to CC mobs (because the one you have is always on a long CD). It was so bad, I leveled a warlock to run with my wife. You know what happened then. Easy mode, frigging easy mode. My lock is 80 and her DH is 80 and I eventually got my DHD to 80 by being carried through dungeon spam.
  3. Soloing any kind of boss mob is tough, again compared to the lock which was easy mode. Its like two different games. Warlock exists on retail, DHD exists in time travel in 2005 wow where pulling 3 gnolls meant death.
  4. At 80, things start to fall into place regarding damage, ESP single target (aoe is sub-par), but it still plays clunky. The mix of melee and range pretty much makes you a melee DD making the ranged attacks kinda pointless as you need to be in melee range to do a rotation.
  5. Cant level a DHD with int weapons. No heirlooms work with them, finding weapons is not easy.

Man I can go on, but this is gonna get too long to read.

Its a cool looking spec. I love the blue/purple “void” aesthetic. But the spec has little raid utility (a 5/3 min damage reduction CD is about it). The melee/ranged concept does not work as a “ranged” class because you have to be in melee range to do any real damage.

Its like saying “here is a flying car, but in order for it to fly you need to have 4 wheels touching the ground”.

Its frankly a bad design and should be reworked into a full ranged spec, or a full melee spec. I’d like to see a full ranged myself with some utility added.

IMO, its possibly going to be shelved. Definitely not choosing DHD as my first class to level in Midnight. I’d rather be rewarded when I play, not punished.

It’s not very good without about 30% haste. After that it feels pretty good but the ramp up takes a long time. Without the level 90 Apex talents it’s kinda not worth the slog. Especially when Havoc is more accessible. I do double DPS T11 Delves (me and Bran as DPS) and they are a breeze on Havoc. I doubt Devourer can do the same. I may that sometime.

Annihilator is way behind Fel Scarred and the optimal play right now doesn’t even favor Collapsing Star. Due to how the talents work you still take it but mostly ignore it in favor of other skills.

I think we need to give demon hunters a crossbow

Demon Hunters have a new spec? I thought Devourer was for the new player experience.

Being able to be ranged is very nice. Though I default to vengeance simply cause you have to actively try to die in order to die a a tank.

The concept is good, the implementation leaves much to be desired.

I think we need to give demon hunters demon pets. A melee pet class would be awesome, and it would irritate the warlocks even more.

A win all around!

Devourer is a lot easier imo.

It’s slower paced, more down times, less buttons.

I personally don’t like it as it does not really feel engaging and it is really clunky compared to havoc.

They should throw their glaives into the ground and spawn 2 Void Elementals that deal damage. Low hanging fruit ability for Devourer, come on Blizz.

That would be brilliant.

What I’ve played of Devourer is pretty bad, and I love ranged classes. Thinking of going back to havoc just to finish up the final 5-6 levels I have.

No, they released the new spec with the latest patch.

Survival Hunter is a melee pet class. Or is irritating warlocks the main goal?

which is semi-range and melee, WHAT A GREAT JOKE BLIZZARD, it’s not the first time I eat YOUR LIES again.

I only see another Warlock that uses Metamorphosis more, and hey… apart from mocking in Stated of Azeroth of the Classic Server players about what we will have to see at Blizzcon until September while he was talking to us about an expansion THAT THEY ALREADY SAID IN WOWHEAD AND IN THE BLUEPOST MONTHS AGO. And now we have to mock the Warlocks and not be able to use their Metamorphosis while the DH are the new and original Demology Warlock that they ignored after Legion.

In any case, we know that the caster will always be a caster and will not evolve like the DH evolved the combat system of a melee class, AND THAT I DO APPRECIATE BLIZZARD MORE HACK N’ SLASH.

Okay so I went and tried T11 Double DPS and it was even easier on Devourer than Havoc. I used Anni but I would imagine Void Scarred would be even easier.
