Why is shadow word madness a magical dispel type? Please make it back into a disease. This is such a huge nerf for pvp

Should remain as a disease and if it’s magic dispellable it should have a big dispel protection
I mean most hybrid classes can dispel diseases already.
Making it magical means that only healers can remove it generally
Not sure if it now bypasses things like AMS or BoSW tho
Also at least maghar can reduce the duration of diseases while no other ability outside Mage Armour reduces magical durations
Tho I would be a fan of PW:M causing horror if it’s dispelled
They may be able to remove disease, but that leaves your magic dots. Making it Madness magical now means one dispel can wipe all your dots ; whereas, previously, it was one or the other.
All of this tracks for Blizz’s way of breaking things that aren’t broken and creating
newer,
worse versions of things.
No… the healers that can remove diseases have that baked into their magic dispel… so now it just dispels the entire rack of dots in 1 dispel.
Being able to remove only DP was beneficial to hybrids, now only a healer can. As long as the backlash silence has some teeth, that’s an ok change.
If healers can no-brainer dispel whenever they see Madness and neuter the spriest’s damage then that’s a huge fail regardless of dot type.
The problem is that it doesn’t. And I highly doubt they will mess with it at all. The problem is that the backlash silence is subject to diminishing returns. So only the first cleanse is somewhat punishing. Cleanse 2, 3, 4, 5 silence you for a global or less.
It needs to silence for like 5 seconds instead of 3, and NOT be subject to diminishing returns. Then it wouldn’t be dispelled on cooldown. Or get rid of the silence and make it do a bunch of damage like Unstable Affliction. Or make it put some long duration stacking physical debuff that cannot be removed on the dispeller that does something nasty. Maybe -x% healing and haste stacking up to 3 times or something and lasting like 30 seconds. There are so many ways they could make it actually scary to remove.
edit: Apparently my mind was all scrambled when I made this reply. I play both aff lock and spriest and I somehow thought we were discussing Unstable Affliction and got UA and VT jumbled. UA has the problem I described, its silence being almost pointless because of how short it is and it being on diminishing returns. I think that should be fixed too.
Devouring Plague (and/or VT) should have some kind of similar backlash baked into it like the ideas I was suggesting. VT’s fear is also just way too short and really isn’t very punishing. A proper silence would be better.
I think it would make sense for it to have the original VE dispel protection. If it is dispelled, then the target instantly suffers 50% of the remaining damage or something like that. We already currently have a horror dispel protection, so it would just be redundant
The idea of an anti-heal component could also be interesting. But I would hope it isn’t an honor talent
I am still in favor of sapping a portion of the mana from the dispeller.
Like 10% at least or more. So they have the choice to spend a little mana in using GCD’s to heal up the damage or spend a lot of mana in getting rid of the dots.
I think it’s fine if they make the dispel penalty much worse. Otherwise, yes reverse it.
